I had trouble with the same rom. No service on boot (had to reboot several times until it read my sim card), and some weird bug in clockwork recovery kept randomly disabling the back button (it would actually tell me that my back button was disabled and I would have to pull the battery).

Other than that, the battery life seemed very good and animations seemed smoother. Reverted back to my previous kernel for now, but will keep an eye on this.

edit: gave it another chance and am not having the same problems as before. Must have been a bad flash...

I think u should try other modem like jl2 or jl3. It should be better for the gsm signal.

So far no issues at all running on JPY with JK3, install went great, no problems in CWM, so far battery life is really good...running..

/system- ext4 (left voodoo activated when flashed to have system-ext4)
ext4-all

with 1-3-4 tweaks enabled

What do all the tweaks do and why would you use 1-3-4?

Heres the link on his startup speed script... (same tweaks in CWM)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813309

As far as 1-3-4, when I used the last few of Hardcore's i9000 versions, having the VM tweak (2) on, it would keep the device running 100%...which I havent tested the last few versions to see if it does it or not still...so it might not do it now, still need to test...

.heres the thread on his i9000 version, its basically the exact same thing...

Just installed 256 HZ version in place of GB's kernel on Doc's ROM JPY V7 CE. Rebooted and enabled tweaks. So far it runs great - thanks. Will need a day or so test battery life and compare. Looks like it is sipping it nicely from the short time I am using it. Home key haptic seems to work. Have not tried BT yet (should be fine though).

Q: why would I want the 500 HZ version? Is there visually much of a difference to the UI? This 256 version seems great so far, or maybe my eyes are just old :p

I dont think Hardcore has posted a 256hz for the Captivate yet...you sure your not using the i9000 version? ...the ones on his website is for the i9000...the ones on the OP is 500hz for Captivate

Well, ya got me there. I am using the one from his website and if it is the i9000 version then that is what is running on my Captivate. Runs fine - should I be concerned and re-flash the CE version? Guess it would be interesting to know what the diffs are b/t the two.

They are the same except that the Captivate version is tweaked to run on the Captivate (i.e .. The buttons are remapped for the Captivate, the screen reorientation is fixed for the Captivate, ...etc..etc) there shouldnt be any noticable difference between the 2 speed wise... I have ran his i9000 versions before and a few things i noticed that didnt work on the Captivate was ...Music player wouldnt play, when your on a call the screen will not go off automatically..or if it does then it wont come back on when you pull it away from your face... So his Captivate version just uses xcaliburinhands code for i9000-i897 to fix all that..

If it was for the Captivate it will say i897 in the file name...
