So like a noob I installed the i9000 by mistake. How do I get rid of this to install the right one? Recovery mode keeps giving me an access denied error or some crap so all I can do from there is reboot the phone. /downloadfail

Seems to be sipping battery for me... runs like a scalded <insert PETA-approved animal name here> too.... something tells me this will yield great battery life for me.... back to testing... gonna leave it off the charger tonight and see what happens....

You can either try to flash with Odin...or download Neldars Kernel Flashing app, it allows you to flash a kernel from an app on the phone..very easy to use ..Ive used it myself and it does work...(with Neldars app, easiest way is just to download the CWM version and select it in the app...with the Odin version you will have to extract the zip first so that its a .tar)

Heres the link to Neldars Kernel Flasher

That worked but splash screen still says i9000 and I still can't use recovery mode either. Kernal version in phone settings says it's the right one though. Guess I just have to figure out why recovery isn't working.

download rom manager and re-flash clockwork recovery (first button at the top)

so far so good...flashed over darky's 6.0 w/ voodoo

im not noticing any staggering speed differences over the reoriented kernel but good battery life thusfar
make sure to enable the lagfix and recommended tweaks via the special menu in recovery

via my Captivate running the latest stable flashy bits I could find

Works good so far. Lost only a few hundred in my quad scores, but I'm coming from an oc kernel. Works for me. Hoping for of in the future. ;)

(Just checked and the same thing happened to me...tested below and it works 100%)

If it says 3e in recovery...then do this..

1)Download and extract the file below
2)Use a terminal emulator or ADB and type.. (or you can use Root Explorer or SGSTools to mount RW)
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/stl9 /system
3)Use a file manager like Root Explorer and copy the recovery file to /system/bin and replace the one there
4)Now, reboot and you should have a modded 3e recovery with no signature verification
5)Go back to Rom Manager and install CWM
6)It should now install CWM and all be back to normal

Guys, Quadrant scores mean noootthiinngg... I applied this kernel over Perception 8 no oc/uv w/Voodoo and immediately I noticed DRASTIC speed differences. This kernel is AMAZING. Major props, man! I love this kernel!

Something random, I was starting to get unexplained FC's on startup before. It would hang on the Perception startup screen for a few seconds, then the force close would happen and it would start normally. No idea what it was... But I flashed this kernel and it's gone now, sooo. :D

But really, thanks! Gonna be keeping this on my phone for quite some time. ;)

I appreciate all the help. Recovery is back and this kernal is extremely fast. I still have the i9000 boot screen but whatever. Only thing left to figure out is why I can't reboot via the side key. I either have to pull the battery or use rom manager. :/

The I9000 Boot screen is there because this is an I9000 kernel. That boot screen is part of the kernel's boot process.
