Got a tricky question for you @Tkkg1994

My Current config - Stock Rom (BPI7) running TWRP and Hybrid Kernel 1.25, Encryption disabled, Data Access works in TWRP

What I need to do - Update to the new Stock Rom - BPI8 without losing data, or TWRP data access

My "Plan" - Flash Stock ROM (With Non-Wipe Home_CSC) over ODIN - Untick Autoreboot and then Boot Directly to download Mode again without letting the phone boot. Then Flash TWRP again with Auto-Reboot unticked. Boot again to TWRP without the phone letting boot and flash this kernel.

Question - Will this work or will I end up losing my data? Just wondering whether you have any experience on this.
This will theoretically work. And now with my new kernel it will work 100% :)

I'm guessing you still haven't got your phone yet? I've not been able to make the previous version of the kernel work with suhide, so do you think I may have better luck with this one?

Flash new kernel

Good morning, if coming from previous kernel version is it necessary to full wipe?

I don´t have any mods installed on Hydrarom, do i have to flash supersu again (i want the root)?

Thank you.

When you are on 1.2 Hydra then you can just update the rom and you will get the new kernel too!

Congratulation on the replacement!

Thanks, Will flash in a while.
Will try and post results.

BTW - Did you ever face an issue with a sudden reboot on bootup ?
I can recreate the error anytime by doing as below.

* Reboot Phone, Hit the SIM Pin if you have one. Dont touch the phone, until the display switches off by itself after booting to lock screen. Other than SIM pin dont touch anything else.
* Now immediately try to hit the home button to light up the screen again and swipe to unlock it.
* It will freeze and then it will suddenly reboot.

This will theoretically work. And now with my new kernel it will work 100% :)

Well you can try to use my hydrarom. On v1.3 I never had this problem so maybe it only happens on stock ones.
Or with this update it gots fixed without even knowing lol.

Yep. Because you need to replace your note !!!!

So tell me which steps you did

I have done all theese steps together:

.....
8. Install zip/select the kernel
9. Flash supersu, phh's root or xposed, just all things that modify your boot.img
10. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (recommand)
11. Reboot

I have repeated all installation (kernel, supersu, xposed) separately and with a system reboot before to proceed with each other.
Kernel is working now, also supersu and xposed.
Thanks.

Private mode is only working when rom supports it too. In your case (stock) clearly not

Hello all together, I will start the first Note 7 kernel thread here on XDA.

    Hydra_logo.png

    Supports Touchwiz 6.0.1

IF YOU FOLLOW MY STEPS BELOW, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR WARRANTY, KNOX WILL DISPLAY 0x1! I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGED DEVICE!

If you want to take my work and need it somewhere, or do other things with it, ask me first for the permission. Otherwise you are not allowed to take it! Thank you :)!

    Notice to all devs:

Fingerprint/iris patch and force encryption disabler are not part of the GLP since
the patch is not in kernel space, instead the patch was created in system space. The license which
covers this modifications is Apache 2.0 and this requires to give proper credits to me (in case you
want to use fingerprint and iris scanner on your kernel, as well as disable force encryption).

Not following those rules can lead to serious problems.
Any people who are not following GPL anyway are not allowed to use this patch.

If you want to see what I do for the note 7 as well, check out my rom: HydraRom, a Touchwiz based rom made by myself!

    Features of this Kernel:
    - Build with latest sabermod Toolchain 7.0
    - Build with BPI7 kernel source!
    - F2FS compatible
    - Latest Linux version 3.18.42, is always up to date
    - Performance and Batterylife improved
    - Choose between different CPU governors: performance, powersave, userspace, ondemand, interactiv (default), conservative
    - Built with latest ramdisk sources from samsung (BPH7)
    - I/O schedulers: CFQ (Default), ROW, No-op, Deadline, BFQ, FIOPS, SIO, VR, ZEN, FIFO, and SIOplus
    - Fixed power efficient wq permission
    - Critical TCP bug fixed
    - Thermal drivers updated
    - Selinux updates merged by google
    - Zram LZ4 enabled
    - Allow ADB-Insecure
    - TCP (Network) control: Bic (default), Reno, cubic, Westwood, Highspeed, Hybla, HTCP, Vegas, Veno, Scalable, LP, Yeah and Illinois
    - SeLinux is set to permissive
    - All samsung related configs disabled (as knox, tima, restrict rooting)
    - force encryption by samsung disabled!

    Download:
    V1.3 available on XDA servers

    Bugs/Problems:
    - None

    Instructions:
    Coming from full stock:
    0. Make a full backup of your phone, coming from stock you will loose all data, since this disables force encryption!
    1. Install a custom recovery for your phone, like this one here: TWRP
    2. Follow the instructions on the page above, until you get a working recovery
    3. Download the Kernel from below and copy it to your external SD Card
    4. Reboot to your recovery by pressing volume up, home button and power button at the same time.
    5. Now, since mentioned many times, this kernel get's rid of force encryption, so you need to wipe all data
    6. Go to Wipe, click on format data, write "yes" then reboot to recovery
    7. Go to wipe, advanced wipe, select: cache, data, internal sdcard, dalvik cache and wipe them all
    8. Install zip/select the kernel
    9. Flash supersu, phh's root or xposed, just all things that modify your boot.img
    10. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (recommand)
    11. Reboot
    Coming from previous kernel version:
    1. Download kernel
    2. Boot into recovery mode
    3. Flash kernel
    4. Flash any other file which affects ramdisk (such as supersu, xposed, magisk etc.)
    5. Reboot

can anyone comment on xposed stability on this kernel ? I've heard xposed works correctly on it, but don't see it mentioned in the op.
I'm sure many of us would appreciate your report!

Working very well and no lag. This handsome chap wrote this guide too:
