Keyboard problems

Had the phone for about a month now and all has been good up until yesterday, when a black section appeared on the keyboard! It seems to have squashed the letters more to the left making typing difficult. It selects a different letter to the one I press EG. I press N and it would have typed B.
I have uploaded a photo to show the problem. It's just the black block to the right of the picture.
Anyone now how to sort the problem?

Think you've turned on the cursor keys (they don't show in landscape orientation)

I feel like I'm being stupid now but how do I turn it off?
It doesn't appear when typing on this forum but it does on text and internet searches, so I'm just confused by it
