I lost root on my KFHD8.9 after I was working on getting gapps to quit giving me the stop message. I have CM12 on it and I even have the new Google Apps back running on it. I have tried following the guides to get root but I still can't get it to root. I done all the trouble shooting I can and I am at my wits end. I used the Bin4ry tool and Kindle Fire First Aide. Thank you for the help.

Go to Settings > Developer Options > Root Access and set it to Apps and ADB. If you dont see Developer Options then go to Settings > About Tablet and tap Build Number 7 times and that will unlock Developer Options.

Have you tried disabling root access, rebooting the Kindle, then enabling it again?

I figured it out finally. I didn't have Superuser SU on my Kindle. I got it installed again and I have root properly installed. It helps to talk it out. Thanks phiftyopz
