I want to build a system so I can store films on a single machine and its hard disks and then have those films be viewable on other screens on the local network.

I built a system to do this over 10 years ago and found even a base 100 network can handle 10 simultaneous streams locally no problem. probably more but that is the most I could test for at the time since it required 11 computers :) and more than I needed.

anyway what kept me from using it was the UI. how do you INTERFACE with it viably on the other end. I was thinking WD.TV's could work and they probably can with firmware to let them access a NAS but they are costly because you have to give them a REMOTE to interface with it. something where I could use a cheap mouse or a usb number pad or something like that would be a lot better.

SO is there any kiosk style software for android? something that will auto load and auto reload in a crash ie force it so only it runs so to speak. and have a nice interface where I could put a jpg with the same name as each film (most being avi divx/xvid files) somewhere I can use a mouse or arrow keys and enter key and back key to navigate.

so I could make category folders and fill them with "films" (divx files) and it would display the picture associated with it click or select it and it "plays" the file

hit back and it returns you to the UI

does anything of this sort exist?
