If google really does tie KNOX into Android, I really see no value in staying with Android. If I'm going to be forced into a closed operating system, I may as well go back to iPhone. At least there, all of their accessories (even 3rd party ones) work on the phone you buy. :(

I moved to Android for this very reason. I liked having more control over my device.

I'm rooted on 4.4.2 and have disabled the auto update service. Like others, I'll be on this until it dies.
Google can't use Knox it's Samsung's intellectual property and we're already stuck with it and a locked boot loader so it doesn't really matter. The fact that at&t and Samsung are working on securing the OS and device works for them and since enterprise customers demand security controls that's what we'll get. Our money doesn't make enough of a difference for Samsung to change its policies so I'll vote with my money next time and not buy Samsung's product if its locked in the current manner. Its my fault I didn't research what I bought before not Samsung or AT&T'S. As far as switching to Apple no thanks their worse by far.
I've been using Linux in one flavor or another for years and I'll stick with that choice because in the long run it will always offer more options more freedom's without a Microsoft or Apple price tag.
So if like me your stuck because you can't afford to change hardware that still works well be glad that you have a place like XDA to get help with customizing controlling your phone.

Well saw a story somewhere that every phone that was going to get 4.4.4 has it released. There was no information about the note 3 at all. Which makes it sound like ATT doesn't want to release another update after the last F up they did with the the 4.4.2 update.

So I am not getting my hopes up for any updates any time soon. Since we are no longer there flag ship phone I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't release any more updates. They want us to but new.

L= downfall of Android. Read up on it and you will see why. After the KitKat update fiasco earlier this year I've learned my lesson and plan to stay put on 4.4.2 until my Note 3 dies.
I have L on my 2013 nexus 7 LTE and its great! I really like it its very clean and snappy don't knock it until you try it.

I am thinking this is a good time for us to contact Samsung if anyone have good info to do that. I mean unlocking the note 3, relatively old device is not about security or keeping the customer on the platform. But as device get older, unlocking mean shifting the responsibility to the customer so they can maintain their device in a safe and useful manner(putting a more recent android version and patches upbto date. Also keeping those device out of the landfill.
