Why would any company selling new stuff want you to keep your old stuff out of the landfill?

At the moment towel root is the only option. Any kernel build circa July 2014 on up should not work. They patched the flaw.

Delete, freeze, or rename the app that keeps trying to download the OTA. It's located in system/priv-app.

My phone automatically dl'd the OTA update. I am stock rooted 4.4.2.

How can I prevent the update from being installed? It tried to install once and I was trying to stop it, I'm not sure what it was that ultimately prevented it from updating, but it rebooted, said it was updating and got to about 25% and said it couldn't update because it was interrupted or something like that.

I would like to prevent the update as well as delete the downloaded update.

P.S.
I'm afraid to go to the update section of settings and see what the status is because that's what I did earlier and it said it would reboot and update automatically in 30 seconds.

Use ES File Explorer or Root Explorer and go to data/ftoa. You should see the update hiding in there. Delete that SOB along with the app I mentioned earlier in this thread and you'll be good to go.

You can download from my server last update NC2 to NJ5 (update.zip) HERE and ADB sideload or update from sdcard
Assuming this is accurate instructions for this method:

  1. Connect your device to the PC via USB cable
  2. Copy the update.zip to the root of the internal or external storage and not in any folder.
  3. Disconnect your device and switch it off.
  4. Hold down the Volume up + Home + Power buttons until you see the Galaxy Note 3 logo screen and then release the keys. Your device will boot into stock recovery mode.
  5. If you have transferred the zip to internal storage then using the volume keys highlight Apply update zip and select it using the Power button.
  6. If you have transferred the zip to external storage then using the volume keys highlight Apply update from external storage and select it using the Power button.
  7. The process will take some time, so kindly be patient. Once done, select Reboot from the main menu of the recovery.

This are instruction to sideload from sdcard.

This is how to do it sideload from PC using ADB sideload
Keep in mind that while using ADB sideload, the regular ADB shell won't work. To be able to use SIDELOAD mode make sure you're running latest ADB drivers from the Android SDK (Platform-tools). Here are the simple steps you need to follow to flash update.zip package using adb sideload mode (based on stock Android recovery):
Place the ZIP package you want to install in the same location where you keep ADB drivers - adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll (usually it's SDK\platform-tools)
Make sure you have USB debugging enabled in Settings > Development on your device
Make sure your phone drivers are installed on the PC you're going to use
Boot your device in recovery mode (Android logo with a exclamation mark) and connect your device to PC
Hold down "power" button first, followed quickly by "volume up" button. You should now see the recovery menu
Use the volume up/down keys to select "apply update from ADB," then press power to select it
Open a command prompt on the PC (cmd.exe), type and confirm with ENTER:
cd /d <adb.exe location> (for example: cd /d c:\SDK\platform-tools) or you can open your SDK/platform-tools folder, then press SHIFT button and the right-click mouse button and choose “Open command prompt here”
adb sideload <filename>.zip (for example: adb sideload update.zip)
The zip package will begin installing. When it's done, select "reboot system now."
How is that different from the alternative method? You don't have to manually create the proper folders structure, push the file and later install if from inside the recovery menu. The result is basically the same, because ADB sideload is also transferring the zip file into the device internal memory and later it automatically begins the installation procedure. However, it works only with recoveries based on Android Jelly Bean source.

And here are info how to install ADB drives on your PC :http://lifehacker.com/the-easiest-way-to-install-androids-adb-and-fastboot-to-1586992378

Well I'm having a lot of trouble installing 4.4.4 on my Note 3. My device was rooted, but I uninstalled the Xposed Framework and Unrooted via SuperSU. I can download the OTA update, but when I try to install it I get the "Installation Interrupted" after it hangs about 25%. I tried clearing cache and the above to no avail. I dont even care if I keep root, I would just like to install the update. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Also, would I have to unfreeze apps and such via Titanium? Im not sure if that would effect anything. I havent deleted the apps that require root access yet. I still have TowelRoot installed as well. Thanks again.

Yes, you need to "Unfreeze" all the stock apps, uninstall SU and TowelRoot. This should have you back at Stock. Reboot and try again, it SHOULD work
