Hey all-

With the while exchange email issue with kitkat how is everybody accessing their mail? I am using the lite version of touchdown for my email but I do not love it, is there a better app out there? Or better yet is there a non-rooted work around to use the default mail app?

I'm using cloudmagic. It's OK, but I prefer the stock app. I don't know of anyway to fix the issues with the stock app.

I pulled the email and exchange services apk from the nexus 5 and replaced them on my moto x and all the issues I had are gone now.

What Exchange issue are you talking about? There is some issue with pushing but if to change in setting to poll every 5, 10, 15 or whatever minutes instead of push it works OK. Definitely is not necessary to use 3rd party email app for this.

How does this work if the Moto X has Email.apk and Exchange.apk instead of EmailGoogle.apk and Exchange2Google.apk?

I was following another thread but it hasn't been updated with a non-flashable set of files (I don't have a custom recovery).

I just used root explorer to copy them over and set permissions.

I just deleted the stock moto email and odex files and copied the ones over from the nexus 5. I did however fail to mention that I have a developer edition device. Sorry if that confused anyone.

your talking to users who are likely NOT rooted (such as myself). This method doesn't work unless you're rooted. The manifests don't line up between the two installs, which prevents EmailGoogle.apk from installing on the X (without root).

The only way around this issue is to use a third party app or keep an eye on your account settings and if something is stuck (syncing now), uncheck sync and re-check.

Try MailWise (beta) from the Play Store. It's replaced the default email app to access email from Exchange servers. Pretty impressive app for stability, features, and developer responsiveness.

I'm using Touchdown, didn't like the interface at first but I'm fine with it now. Very stable and works great.

Using mailwise myself.
I am rooted and tried the above post of copy and paste and all. Still had issues.
