Hi Quarx!

First I want to thank you for all your work, bringing Kitkat to my beloved phone.

My Defy is my main and only phone, so I vote for a more stable Kitkat, if you have time for that.

Sent from my awesome Defy running Kitkat.

I would like to have android 5.1 for the defy(+). It's my main phone, and i think, it would be good to make at least lollipop for the defy, because it was developed specificly for phones with low ram. Thats a big chance!
Uhm.. I didn't know that.. In this case, if @Quarx thinks to have enough time in the future, I'll vote for 5.1 too :D

I'm wondering if the 5.1 ART could be easily backported to 4.4... being the default in Lollipop I hope it has reached a stabler status.

5.1 for the win!!!!

Thanks Quarx for everything you have done for our defy!!!!

I vote for 5.1 . The defy is my daily driver and the only phone I have and I am sure with your skills and all of us testing it will not take long to keep it alive and kicking!!! (And on the bleeding edge where it deserves to be!!!)

Start by releasing a bootale built and things will start moving in no time!!!

Kitkat is already quite stable, and recent problems arise from new Google apps. With new life (who was ever expecting that!!! I was deleting everything before) and any other magic you come up with as problems arise I am sure a stable 5.1 is not far off.

Long live Quarx!!!!!!

Main phone here. And 2 more from my friends. I would like 5.1 because of the supposedly low latencies it has for audio, so to connect my midi keyboard to it. But I'd prefer improvements on 4.4 more than starting from scratch on 5.1. Also, will we ever got 3.x kernel working? That d be amazing.

I think limits has not been reached at all, and you can push them even harder, having less lag, battery drain, and more performance.

Just kidding. I am going to support and donate for whichever project you go ahead with :fingers-crossed:

Oh, wow. Too many posts, finally i read them all :D
So, need make 4.4 more stable and faster than current one. But first need find what make our defy slow.
And i check what we can get from 5.1
This would be the best you can do for us as you already did untill now!!!

Greetings

I have a problem since upgrading to cm11. When pressing the power button to wake up from standby it takes about 3-5 seconds for the screen to turn on. When the phone is fresh rebooted it is sometimes even longer (over 10 seconds or wont turn on at all!).
Is this normal?

Very happy to see Quarx again :)

Another vote for KitKat here. I assume 5.x is a much bigger job. We have to be realistic - and let's face it, the devs already surprised us again and again with what this little phone can do. But I think 5.x is too much to ask now. It may be possible, but who is going to do it? Quarx on his own, with limited time?

Sometimes (with all builds including 20150331) my Defy reboots without warning, usually triggered by using multiple apps quickly, and seems to happen more frequently with greater uptime. I'm assuming this is a symptom of memory pressure, maybe a memory leak or something?

Would be great to see some progress on the general stability and performance. It's so nearly perfect, only a few rough edges. I have used Quarx CM11 as my daily driver for many months, and benefitted from his work for years.

I'm sure any further development from Quarx would be very much appreciated by all of us here - we really owe this guy a lot.

Quarx, no doubt what you have achieved with Defy is beyond our wildest expectations, but sure 4.4 still has a long way to go to meet performance standards of Gingerbread. think the heavy OS has to be blamed for all the debacle in KK as compared to GB, so you should try and purge the OS bloat if possible. again not sure how that is possible if at all, but am willing to believe in your abilities as always. my system shows 45% battery and system drain due to the OS in KK as compared to 20% while in GB. so lets find out if we can do any better! :good:

@Quarx I also vote for a more stable 4.4 instead of trying to implement 5.1 from scratch (mainly because of memory requirements and the time it would require), the Defy is my main phone and I really appreciate all the effort you've put into keeping that flame lit for so long.
Keep up the good work!
