Retailers have no clue about this just talked to a retailer and when I said Knox 0x1 he just o_O what's this 0x1 pretty much they know nothing about this and yeah that's a shame because instead of just selling phones they need to be more informative on what's being changed due to this warranty crap. And well they isnt . and that's bad!

So go ask any retailer and make fun of them and feel like you're more knowledged than him on this xD

Yeah I expect that since they know what they're selling or do you ever going into a store and say hey I want a phone. Sorry can't help you. Help yourself. But I want a phone with a good camera. Help yourself?

No in my country they're telling this is good if you want this or that.

And yeah he knew about Knox so i assume he knew more then you thought he were. So he was basically a Sammy user or he wouldn't be knowing about it. But yeah he didn't knew that s4 had it so I would assume he's note iii user lool.

A reseller must have multi knowdge about phones or he's basically trash. Because he wouldnt be fitting for the work. Many retailers I've seen don't use iPhone they either use HTC or samaung. Or any other android phone. They dislike iPhone

Why should they know about knox warranty?
You can ask them : if I flash a random firmware found on the Web, or if I root my phone, will my warranty be voided?
Probably all will say yes.
That's all they need to know and all they must say about this.

Why should they care about how will the technicians know you've been naughty?

It's been said Knox can be triggered while recovering your device with kies so if you got 0x1 from kies your warranty will be void? Don't think so pal they should know about it since yeah they're selling devices they should know about warranty purposes

I know this is off-topic but I'll surely get a prompt answer... I think ;)

Can I ask, something I haven't been sure of and can't find much about, if Knox is set to 0x1, can I still flash any ROM and boot-loader I want?
Or does it lock out overwriting the boot-loader and ROM? Or just one?

Thanks!

Knox 0x1 doesn't affect what you can flash.

However their latest bootloader cannot be downgraded, so you can't flash an older one.

Awesome thanks. Should I care about this? I just want a good 4.3 ROM + Root. I might not even have to flag 0x1 :victory:

If you flash a custom kernel or recovery, or if you root, or flash a custom rom, your device will change to knox 0x1 and your warranty will be void.

So it's up to you if you should care...

As a prior mobile phone sales man, we only knew about our services more than the devices. I was always fascinated with the phones so I knew more.
The salesman or carrier stores aren't there to be tech experts to where as they will have or should have service center or specialist for this kind of stuff.

It's sounds like to me he just flashed the Mj1 bootloader. I know you can't downgrade to a KNOX free bootloader but what if you just reflash the KNOX boot loader to reset it.

It looks like the knox setup is done in containers and partitions.. ect.. we would just need to combine those partitions and to only allow 1 bootloader and bypass all of this knox stuff completely. I duno if that is possible but looking at the knox software website, it looks like that would be something that could be done.

I wonder if it would be possible to pull the primary bootloader and remove the knox securities out of it and replace it..

@up yea, deassembling primary bootloader, finding which part is related to knox, removing it so rest would still work and compiling it again sounds easy. We should get to it asap ;)

If website is to be belived, this might not even help at all since majority of checkups might be in later bootloaders.

Still i hope there will be something out if it. Strange thing that there is nobody who actually works in samsung service center and is registered here? :/
