So whats the big deal of tripping knox?
I was thinking about it throughout the day and could not come to a conclusion as to why one would want to keep it at 0x0.
My phone is insured with Sprint's monthly insurance plan. If anything goes wrong, I can bring it into Sprint and they will attempt to fix or replace it. So what's the big deal of knox?

They may refuse to service your phone if they so desire but this is dependent on them checking for it and ultimately caring whether or not you have the Knox flag tripped. Personally I'm with you, I could care less and rooted my phone within the first 30 minutes I had it.

Has anyone called Sprint to see what there policy is regarding the matter?
I doubt sprint would care. To get this phone I used the new One up program and had to give them back my s3 and it was rooted with a custom ROM on it :D

I've read several posts where sprint users have sent in their GN3's for various bricks they've caused and not had any issue that they've reported...that I've read at least. I'm not too concerned. If they check and tell me no...I have insurance on it...so I'll just run the *amn thing over with my car and pay the stupid deductible and get a new one in the worse case scenario :)

If you look up Samsung's KNOX page it seems clear that it is a security feature. Hacked phones could be a vulnerability to a secure business.

I told the sprint guy I rooted my phone when my wife bought hers and when I came in to upgrade mine he didn't hesitate to trade it in. He even asked if it as still rooted. I actually gave it to my daughter instead but he asked if I was going to root my note and I said most likely... He could care less..

Sprint has an "open" policy. We aren't trained to look for root, I can't speak for the techs. But honestly, if your a **** and try to lie to me I'll send you to a tech.. tell me you are rooted and you bricked the phone.. I'll order you another... I bricked my phone and I had mine replaced.. I even told my manager how I bricked it.. most reps don't even know how to get into recovery..

if you are with sprint, if you read the Sprint TOS that you signed when you got the phone it says that rooting will not void your warranty they just ask that u put it back to stock when upgrading or having service done to it. Who has ever went to upgrade their phone and the rep put it in to download mode to check something like that? And when I had my s2 rooted and needed service on the ear piece I just left cm 10 and all my stuff just the way it was and they never said anything to me about it.

Bricked with 0x0

Sprint refused to service my phone today even with the Knox Flag set as 0x0. I had it stock rom rooted and I was having issues with certain apps. I did a factory reset and still had issues. I tried using Kies to restore and now I have a useless device that says firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. Does anybody have any suggestions? I took it into Best Buy to a Samsung rep was and he couldn't even fix the issue. Literally want to cancel sprint after this.

Do you have Sprint insurance? Since Sprint wants to be a$$holes two can play at that game. Pull the battery and tell them you lost it. Pay the $200? deductible for a new one and sell the other one on eBay. New phone and make a profit off the screwed up phone. You didn't hear this from me.... ;)

What reason did they give for refusing to service your phone?

The tech looked at picture on the phone (the phone yellow triangle and computer) said it was bricked and I "must have tried to root". He did not even actually look at the phone as the KNOX counter was still 0x0. That store everyone was a POS and just walked off and completely ignored me. I told them too that I had only had the phone for 5 days and they said that they couldn't touch the phone because they would get in trouble with Sprint. So yesterday I took it into another Sprint repair store and they had to add insurance on it for me to swap it out with a new one. Pretty lame but at least I have a phone that works now.

Which puts me correct to say that as long as you have Sprint insurance you should get it replaced if anything happens. So rooting and knox trigger shouldn't matter.

You gotta re flash a recovery. At least that's what happened to me.

Kies won't be able to recover this.. my phone didn't get recognized by my pc.

Did you try PC Odin flashing the newly released mj4 full tar.md5? After that finishes, and the phone boots up, do a full factory reset within the phone OS (not in custom or stock recovery). If you can get it into download mode, then you should be able to full flash it back to stock. It won't reset the counter but it should get the phone working.
