I manually installed my update and there appears to be some stutter on most apps. I never had this issue before on the previous version 4.1.1
My nexus 7 is in tablet mode and I use the Nova Launcher as well. Apps, changing/rotating screens, app drawer, page turning in books (Use mantano ebook reader), etc all have this slight stutter and I just can't seem to put my finger on it.
I have the 16GB model and have about 2.50 GB left but I did read on other threads that on the 16 gb model, once you dip below a certain amount of storage the system lags?
Also, I read something about doing a factory reset? I really don' t want to come to that conclusion but if I have to I will. I just can' t understand it.

1. try a different governor/scheduler
2. try enabling force gpu acceleration in the phones main settings, developer options
3. run a fix permissions
4. if youre using superuser, try supersu instead.
5. install busubox if its not included in your rom.
6. check nova launchers settings for something that might cause lag.
7. clear data for nova launcher(main phone settings, apps)
8. check how it is without nova launcher.
9. try another kernel

in no particular order, just some things to look at :)

I switched the governor from the default ondemand option to interactive and it seems to have helped a bit.

for some reason default ondemad settings are a lot off in jelly bean. google had them set extremely wrong. ondemand is actually a great governor to use with jelly bean, as long as the governor settings are right, just ask trinity kernel users. you can try setting the sampling rate to 15000 and up threshold to 98% in the ondemand settings. btw, the sampling rate before jelly bean for ondemand was 40000, now its 400000 which would make it lag immensely. i think someone just added an extra 0 to it accidentally.

2 second fix

Open Google Current
Unchecked the option `Enable background sync
Restart tablet.
That sorted the lag for me.
Thanks to Noel Barcellos tip on YouTube.

Hope it works for you too.

PS on another topic, if you like Analog Clocks download UCCW app and then my download my skins for this on Play Store.
First batch are free :)

Do you have that widget(my library) on your home screen? I had that and just took it out of the home screen and everything is smooth again.

That is exactly what happens. It was a bug in 4.1.1 and fixed in 4.1.2.

Basically there's a thing called TRIM which optimizes storage on the built-in ssd of the nexus 7 and it was disabled in 4.1.1.

4.1.2 fixed it.

I had the same problem and couldn't figure it out until i read the LAG thread. Try to delete unnecessary files off your tablet, install Forever Gone (app on play store that fills in your free space with blank files to erase any trace of deleted files), let it run once (it will pause sometimes, let it run fully) and it will then delete the blank files. This should fix any lag.

I did it to my tab and it worked flawlessly after that!
