734 people agree, must be good. I'll give a try and let you know.

Edit: On EPinter's CM10, it turns off as soon as I exit the app. Not sure if I installed it properly as the instructions weren't clear in OP or on Play Store.

Edit 2: The app stays working after a restart. As long as I don't close it from recent apps, it's fine. Apparently, others are having similar issues in the Play Store. It does seem to go back to the launcher faster.

I'm sure I've read somewhere in the thread that it doesnt turn off even if it's shown so. the developer is pretty sure about it.

Have you personally tried it? Can't say I've noticed a big difference other than returning to home screen. I'll torture my phone later today to see how big of a difference it makes.

I installed it this afternoon while using mmontouri's CM7 and there was definitely a noticeable increase in app launch speed. I also noticed animation frames I had never seen before. It may just be psychological but it really appears and feels faster responding. I tried loading a few games to see if there was a speed difference. Plants vs. Zombie's launched considerably faster as did Drag Racing and a couple of the Angry Bird's (hey, I like the Star Wars one!) incarnations. Returning to the home screen is instantaneous, no stuttering back to it like it was before.

The only drawback I've seen so far was the first time Angry Birds Star Wars launched it crashed and hasn't since (in about ten different launches.) I also haven't noticed any significant change (good or bad) in battery life.

Edit: To install, just grab the apk (last link) in the OP and install that. None of the other files are required.

I read the thread linked in the OP, figured out the basic idea, and then did my own spinoff (instead of a precompiled binary I did a small shell script that does the same thing). I also changed the run time to 2 seconds instead of 1. At first glance seems it's possible that it actually does improve certain things. I tried GMaps (not much of a gamer here), the tiles loaded pretty fast (but I could've just been lucky). We'll see how things go in the long run.

Yeah, I can't say I see much improvement either, I'm guessing if it works at all it's mostly for specific use cases. On the other hand, my Atrix seems quite snappy as it is, maybe there's just not much else to do. :)

I have been using this for a couple of days and it actually improved my battery while I sleep at night... I used wake up with 70% after unplug when I go to bed, now its around 85%. Weird.
