I tried to format a USB 3.0 64GB usb stick using USB OTG but keeps saying unable to format after few minutes, anyone else having similar issues or advice if I need to do anything?
I'm using Preview 3.

Thanks,

4GB of user accessible storage on the Nexus Player is a bit small, especially in 2015. Tonight I attached an "old" 64GB SSD via USB OTG and repacked the boot image to use the SSD for the userdata partition. Now I have 59GB of relatively speedy storage.

You can find the repacked boot image at the link below. Personally I am user a powered USB adapter so as not to overload the USB OTG port. You will need to make sure that there is only one partition on the drive or that the partition you intend to use for data is the first partition. It will need to be formatted as ext4.

Note, I am not responsible if performing this mod bricks your device or your drive or you lose all of your saved games in the process. You must be bootloader unlocked. Flash via your computer with fastboot flash boot boot.img or install TWRP and go to Install -> Images and browse to the image that you downloaded onto the Nexus Player and choose boot as the target partition.
I don't use a powered USB hub and when I have 32gb flash drive plugged in and I plug a 1tb hardrive in it kicks my flash drive off, does this have anything to do with power and overloading it? I'm on android 6 and using the storage features from that, thanks!
