Hello everyone,

Like many of you I am having the same problem updating my watch, I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46 mm and it is well connected in bluethooh to my Samsung Galaxy S 22 Ultra and also connected in Wifi to my Orange Box (Fiber).

As soon as I ask for the update, this one:

On my phone "copying the update to your watch.."

Except that it loads endlessly and nothing happens!!!

I see that there is the same problem on Galaxy Watch 4 but also Galaxy Watch 5.

Is there a solution please?

Thank you in advance for your assistance

Hello,

Thank you for your answer @Marcelocohenarg , I tried to do what you described to me above in your comment and unfortunately it does not work. The watch absolutely wants the connection with the phone in bluetooth in order to do the update, when I disconnect the bluetooth, a message appears telling me that the bluetooth connection between the watch and the phone is mandatory. I contacted Samsung, they made me install the Samsung Members app to generate a bug report and within 15 days I should have an answer for this BUG, whether a new update will fix this problem or whether I need to send my watch to Samsung's after-sales service.

Do you have any other solutions or ideas?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day everyone.

Nicholas

Hello, the requirement to be connected to the phone is new to me, perhaps it's something that appeared with the new release. Assuming the wearable app has all the permissions, another silly question is if you tried to do this being connected with both phone and watch to a different wifi network, and of you tried via 4G / 5G, that is, shutting down the wifi both in the phone and in the watch.

I faced the same issue, and I've read somewhere, a suggestion to clear all data from the galaxy apps on the phone.
I didn't worked for me (even did a reset on the watch), but you can try that one.

For me, the solution was to do a reset on the watch, use a 2nd phone to config the watch as new (no restore), than I was able to update. After that, reset again, repair with old phone and restore backup.

I had the same problem, the update did not work through phone, only through wifi on the watch itself (bluetooth disabled, not connected to phone)

Hello everyone, @Marcelocohenarg , @spysky , @smashda ,

again a big thank you for your messages and your help in solving my software update problem.

I checked the Galaxy Wearable app on my phone and there are all necessary permissions.

I'm at my work right now and I can't test all the solutions you offer me to solve my problem. What I know is that the watch absolutely wants to go through a phone to do this update. I don't have any other Android phones around, most people I know have Apple phones (Sheep lol). So I thought of one thing, I have a Samsung Galaxy TAB A tablet from 2015, do you think it is possible that I install Galaxy Wearable on it and reset my Galaxy Watch 4 with my tablet in order to pretend it's the same as a second android phone that I don't have on hand???

Thanks in advance for your help and feedback.

Hi, I have a Galaxy Tab S2, that I think is also very old, and I just installed the Galaxy wearable app, so what you propose probably can be done. I don't know if the watch itself can be connected to two different devices at the same time, so you may need to disconnect it from the phone. Just out of curiosity, because there are a lot of people including me that didn't have this problem, could it be that you have another app that could be interfering with this? Tell us if you succeed.

Goodnight all, @Marcelocohenarg , @spysky , @smashda ,

I tested a reset of my watch and the installation of Galaxy Wearable on my tablet, unfortunately the association cannot be made between a watch and the tablet for the Wearable application, here is the message delivered by the tablet: " It is not possible to associate a watch or a bracelet with a tablet for the Galaxy Wearable application".

Suddenly, I'm really annoyed because I don't have many people around me who use an Android phone. I do not know what to do anymore. If you have other ideas, I'm all ears.

In the meantime, thank you

Hello, Hello everyone, @Marcelocohenarg , @spysky , @smashda ,

Solution found, I asked a friend to lend me his Samsung Galaxy Note 9 smartphone running Android 10, I factory reset my Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm completely, I installed the Galaxy Wearable app on the Samsung Note 9 and I followed the steps to associate the phone and the watch, then I launched the search for update, the download of this one went correctly and crucial moment the copy of update s is done correctly and the installation too. After that, I reset my watch again and paired it with my Galaxy S22 Ultra for good and everything works!!!

Unfortunately I still do not explain why the last update of my Galaxy Watch 4 (GVK7) did not want to be done via my personal phone and my watch. It may be a software version problem or other but in any case no hardware defect of the watch.

I hope that my feedback can help you if in the days to come you encounter the same problem.

Thank you again for your messages and your help ;-)

Hello everyone,

here is Samsung's solution in a photo following the error report I sent them, unfortunately I couldn't test if it worked because I reset my watch with a friend's Galaxy Note 9 and I updates from his phone.

I wish you a good Sunday.

Yesterday i have the same problem and it was simple to recover that....
Just turn off your phone, connect your watch to a wi fi network, go to settings on your watch and apply for updates.

Hi

I have always had this problem. Pixel 4a GW4 Classic.

I tried also multiple times. No luck. But then I remembered.... Watch and phone connected to same WiFi. Start the update from the watch. If it's starts downloading, turn off Bluetooth in watch. Hope it helps, next time.

I had this problem in the past with watch 4 and S22 u. I solved it by shutting down the Bluetooth before downloading the upgrade, thus letting the watch to download it directly via wifi. I think that per default it's trying via the phone and for same reasons it's not working. I reconnected to the phone before applying the update.
