I used Flashtool to download the German package (1281-4640) and created the FTF with Flashtool.
It shouldn't be a broken FTF... How about downloading another one from XperiFirm? Coz you can copy the direct link and paste it into a downloader like IDM. Maybe that makes your download faster and reliable, maybe...

yeah.... i noticed this one too... im unable to activate xposed which means it cannot write to 'system' .... oh and i did not do step 12
Succeeded!!! But I can't make system R/W, though I do as Step 12... Any ideas?
Do you have root if you open SuperSU? Did you run the installer version of the dualrecovery, allowed it to have root rights when asked and completed successfully with the device rebooting?

6. Uncheck all the Include options [ ], we don't need them, we will flash them with Flashtool after the update. I think it's still safer to flash kernel, baseband, boot and other system critical parts of the firmware from Flashtool.

I just did the different way ... i selected all Include options in this step. Also added FTF downloaded and converted with Flashtool and SuperSU zip.
This way i was created prerooted rom. Flashed with recovery and without reboot flashed recovery.

This way.. all works - - sys - RW even Noise cancelling. ;) Also this way you dont need to flash anything after with Flashtool.

Yes, that should work most of the time, but how did you get proper root without installing a ric killer? Did you install the recovery with the installer?

When I opened SuperSU, nothing strange happened. I tried to run NextApp SDFix and SuperSU popped up a message of authorization. I confirmed it but SDFix said platform.xml file could not be updated. Seems that I have root but I can't mount /system R/W. And of course I ran the installer and gave ADBshell root rights, but it didn't work. The log said "mount: permission denied (are you root?)".

yes i do have root. however, i noticed upon doing step 12, a few lines say 'cannot write to system'...

im doing another run, this time, i edited NUT's script to include the .167 version. Will let you know if it pushes through.

As a workaround, you can write to system via recovery.

Need to add the rom version in dual recovery otherwise ric killer does not work after phone starts.
If you install the dualrecovery via the PC installer, there is no need to add the version string in the script because it doesn't check it, that's why I put this last step in the process. But I'll check this again later today.

No matter which FTF I download/create with Flashtool, I get the following error when just flashing the FTF straight to my phone

Code:
09/048/2014 06:48:22 - ERROR - Processing of system.sin finished with errors.
09/048/2014 06:48:22 - INFO - Ending flash session
09/048/2014 06:48:22 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MINOR";ERR_CODE="0017";ERR_DYNAMIC="8009001C";
I'm using Flashtool 0.9.18.3...

Amyone using an older version maybe?
