Le X526 asks for PIN when any other sim or no sim is inserted

Stock Rom, not rooted. Bought unlocked phone last Christmas from Geekbuying.
No issues up until today, I got a new sim and when I put it in (sim tray 1 or 2) I am asked for a PIN. But it is not the PIN that came with the card that it is looking for.
When I have no sim card in, it looks for a PIN. When I put the sim that I have had in all along, it boots as normal. But that sim doesn't have a PIN (Never had) - I still have all the cards and paper that came with the original sim.
It doesn't reset either, when I try another sim or no sim, it asks for a PIN and tells me that I have x tries left out of 10 and then I will have to enter PUK.
Does the Le X526 have it's own default PIN? It is not 0000, I tried.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

No it has no default PIN.
Try to disable PIN of your new SIM in another phone and try again.

Without SIM, there is no thing like PUK.

btw Are you really satisfied with stock ROM?

Thanks, but I can't find that setting and I have loked everywhere that I can think of
I would not be satisfied with stock rom but I bought the phone for my mother and she is happy enough with it. She only uses it to play bridge, make phone calls and browse the internet.

I have looked for that setting in system settings and there is no sim settings that I can find.

EDIT - I will disable the pin for that sim on another phone, but it happens even when there is no sim in it, or if the original sim is in slot 1 and a different sim is in slot 2.

I disabled the PIN, and it seemed to still ask for a PIN, so I rebooted the phone to recovery and wiped cache (again). Rebooted with original sim in, and back to normal. About three more reboots and it seems to be okay.

If I get some time, I will give her a spare old phone for a bit and install a new ROM on it, is there any ROM in particular that would be recommended? I have seen a few threads here asking, but they mostly are about which ones don't work or are slow.

For your mother I would recommend any lineage ROM, and better take an official release.
I'm using Havoc, but it seems to be discontinued and I'm not a mother
