The hardware detection for my stylus keeps failing. I open the app normally and it doesnt register keystrokes anymore. Still works for other aps. I am using the ThinkPad tablet with Joshua latest rom. Original stylus.

It isn't a big deal as the software emulation still works, but it seems to me slightly less precise. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

@cadilhac: Normally, when you zoom in or out to 100%, the `zoom´ option gets disabled. When you enable the `keep zoom active´ option in the app's settings and you zoom in or out to 100%, LectureNotes zooms to 100% but keeps the `zoom´ active, so that you can directly zoom again. Additionally, when you open a notebook for which `zoom´ is not active, LectureNotes activates it; this is not strictly needed, but I found it helpful.

@DeucesAx: Have you checked the battery?

@acadoid: Thanks for the precision. I understand how "keep zoom active" implies the first behavior you mention, basically,
preventing automatic zoom disabling — and I do want this option. However, that it (1) disables per-notebook zoom preference and (2) reactivate zoom when locking/unlocking the screen or switching between apps; seem rather ... unexpected. All the more given the description of the option (as written in the preferences). Maybe this can be 2 (or 3) separate options?

is there any way to import a pdf thats in landscape mode into lecture notes in the right mode? because its 90°/240° degrees inclined and not really usable in that way (when importing from pdf to notebook).

maybe there is a way to turn the pages/all pages like +90° or -90°, didnt find this option, but still searching.

@cadilhac: Let me think about that.

@seb7o: There is an option `auto-rotate´ in the PDF import setup in the app's import settings. When this option is enabled, LectureNotes rotates pages by 90 degrees if this makes them fit better on the page; when it is disabled, not rotation will occur.

You can rotate material using the cutter tool. In case there are several pages, it is probably easier to delete them and reimport.

thank you very much, that was a usefull and fast answer!

edit:
@acadoid, here some feedback and ideas of mine:

I really like the lasso for deleting and the lasso for cutting (samsung galaxy note 10.1).
I am using the app quite often at the moment (university lectures) and I must say that
some more features would be awesome
- adding a button that shows/hides the android task-bar (because sometimes I want to change to another app like chat or calendar).
(for my sake this is really important, and i already got the option in use to hide it permanentaly from inside of the app).
- to lasso an area an then select/change the color of the drawing/text inside of that lasso, would be really helpful!
- (question) also a way to get the app showing two documents, for exemple read the exercise sheet and editing another paper for the answers, or looking up something in the skript. all of this in portrait mode, because i normally use portrait mode, also for documents that are wide/ in landscape (so the tablet takes not so much place on the too small tables of the lecture rooms).

I think you already mentioned that you are working on it: changing the location of saving/saved documents.
Finally you got my thanks for this awesome app, you are doing really well, didn't Samsung or Lenovo offer you a huge amount of money for it yet? if I were them, I would pay you a lot! ;)

@seb7o: - Hide/show system bar on demand is an interesting idea.
- After selecting an area, click on the `bucket´ icon and select one of the `non-zero alpha´ options.
- This is on my agenda (it requires quite a number of changes, as the code assumes for simplicity that only one notebook is open at any time). In the meanwhile, note the list of recently opened notebooks in the menu at the launcher icon, this allows to quickly change between notebooks.
@SamCutty: The margins of the text layer can be altered in the app's handling settings. Note that this affects all notebooks.

Hi Acadoid,

Below are some feature suggestions I hope you may consider:

Add the ability to double tap the screen to move the zoom box to that area when using the input zone?

Add a slide out drawer (like the pencil toolbox) that shows a list of your recent copies. This is essentially an image clipboard.

When using the cutting tool, only cut the images on the layers that are visible. Example: I have a default table on one layer and value on another layer. I only want to copy the default table with no values.

Ability to create custom shapes, such as graphs, but I believe this is already in the works.

Thanks

@gollyzila: - Double-tap outside the input zone zooms in and out. Use the `hair cross´ button to get the `cursor´ into the visible area.

- Some kind of `recently imported images´ is on my agenda.

- I am not sure whether I understand, the cutter tool operates only on the active layer.

- Custom drawing tools will come soon.

Can you add an option for double-tap to either zoom in/out OR move the "cursor" to the double-tapped location? Tapping the little GPS icon is hit or miss and frankly, the area that I want to write on is never in the top left corner.

You're right. It's when using three or more layers that the cutter tool doesn't operate as desired. Let's say I have 3 layers, I hide layer 1, and use the cutter tool to copy. The resulting image is just the image on the active layer, but it should have been layers 2 and 3 since those are displayed as I use the cutter tool.

Thank you again for your speedy response.

@gollyzila: - Maybe I misunderstood, but the `hair cross´ is for cases in which you have scrolled a couple of pages and wish to get the cursor to the new page (this is what I thought you wish to do). To move the cursor to a desired place in the displayed page area can be achieve by click-and-drag.

- Pencil, eraser, and cutter operate only on the active layer. A multi-layer cutter is an interesting idea, but comes with some problems. For instance, let's say you have two layers displayed and cut/copy something, so that the material on the clipboard has two layers. Now you hide one layer, so that only one layer is displayed, and paste from the clipboard. What should happen then with the two layer material?

Yes, that is what I want to do but I believe double-tap to move the cursor to a desired place is a much easier and intuitive way than tapping the tiny 'hair cross' icon.

Interesting. I'd expect both layers to be pasted and the hidden part to stay hidden until the layer is displayed.

@gollyzila: But wouldn't that contradict the notion that the cutter works on displayed layers only?
Sorry, I didn't explain it that clearly. Let's say layers 1, 2, and 3 are displayed, I cut/copy something, hide layer 1, and then paste. What is then pasted should only be from layer 2 and 3, but if I make layer 1 visible then the material from layer 1 that I copied/cut will also show.

Improvements

Only just recently moved from an iPad to a Note 10.1, and I can already see the benefits using this app. There are only a few niggles I have.

1.) Coming from iPad, i'm used to sexy UIs. This app really deserves one.
2.) The ability to import multiple PDFs at once (i.e. from one dropbox folder)
3.) Better workbook organisation

Apart from that, I'm loving it. Keep up the good work.

@alexgodbeher: 1. I am a scientist, not an artist, and I do my best. I agree that the icons etc. can be improved, but I prefer that users praise the functions and nag about the UI than the other way around.

2. You mean import multiple PDFs into the same notebook? In principle, this is not much of a problem besides that Android does not provide means to ask a file manager app to select multiple files.

3. I am not sure what you refer to, please explain.

First of all: thanks for this great app, I use it daily for note taking at the university!

One improvement would be handy: the ability to choose a dropbox folder as the path to store the notes files.
I know I can sync them using a thirdparty app, but I would prefer an integrated solution as this would ensure a proper sync.
Would this be possible using the Dropbox sync API?
