@shizishan: There is an app/extension LectureRecordings that allows to record audio while taking notes.

To record audio while taking notes with LectureNotes, do not start LectureRecordings but LectureNotes. Then, open a notebook and select `Start recording´ in the menu at the app's launcher icon to start recording, and select `Stop recording´ in this menu to stop recording; or enable the `microphone´ icon in the app's menu settings, click on the `microphone´ icon to start recording, and click again on the `microphone´ icon to stop recording. Please note that the noise caused by your stylus on the device surface is inevitably recorded by the app when using the device's built-in microphone, therefore it is recommend to use an external microphone.

To replay your recordings, open the notebook in `notebook replay´ (either directly from the notebooks board by long-clicking on the notebook and selecting `Notebook replay´ in the popup menu, or by opening the notebook normally and selecting `Notebook replay´ in the main menu), then the recordings will be on the left and the notebook on the right, the divisor can be moved horizontally by click-and-drag.

There is also a search functionality, select `Search recordings´ in the main menu and click on the area in question. This will forward the audio recording to the moment in time during which you wrote in this area for the first time (if there are multiple recordings, you will get a list to choose from).

Index question

Is there a way to show pages which only have a specified index tag? Alternately, is there a way to index a page, move another page before that page, and have the index move with the page? I am trying to build an index for a notebook that will have pages inserted frequently in the middle, but the index keeps getting off when i insert new pages and move them to the middle. Thanks!

@tuathane: No, but this is an interesting idea (you could let these pages tag in notebook overview, copy them to the clipboard, create a new empty notebook and paste them there).

Keywords stay with the page that you assigned them to. For instance, if you add a keyword to page 4, then insert a page before that page so that the previous page 4 is now page 5, then the keyword is with page 5.

Great app I've enjoyed the 3 days ive had with it so far.

My suggestion:

Add a feature to import audio or video files that were recorded and stored on the device/cloud? I currently u se the app for journaling (business and leisure) and I will record my thoughts through the day and summarize those thoughts in my journal entry at night. Most of these recordings are audio. If I could import that recording into my notes, it would act as a record keeper of all thoughts.

Thanks again for making such a great app. It's always a pleasure to see someone take pride in perfecting their craft and providing an excellent product with great customer service.

@AbrahamWalker: You cannot import audio or video into the notebook, but you can set a link to the file as a keyword attached to the notebook page (LectureNotes `understands´ `file://´, `http://´ and `https://´), then clicking on this keyword in notebook index opens the file or the web page. Keywords can be added using the `Index page X´ menu item, select `Notebook index´ to see the index.

Importing PDFs

EDIT..now it works, so it must have been me.

Is anyone having trouble importing PDFs into Lecturenotes recently? I thought I was able to open a pdf directly from Dropbox or Astro File manager to LN by choosing which file to open, then selecting LN from my menu of choices. However now when I do that, I am taken directly to LN without the option to open the document as a new notebook and the import fails. Seems that the only way to import is through the LN app itself by launching LN then choosing IMPORT PDF from the menu and then browsing until I find the document in Dropbox. I don't mind doing it this way, but the other way was just a little more convenient.

Am I doing something wrong, or has something changed and I didn't realize it? Thanks for the help
.

@werpnst8: There was no change in the LectureNotes/PDFView interface. I usually recommend a reboot in case of such `strange´ problem, this tends to resolve it. What did you do?
@acadoid, thank you for the quick reply. I didn't really do anything except wait a while and try again later. At the time my tablet wouldn't cooperate, it was plugged in to its docking station in my office. It worked when I removed it from the docking station. Sorry for the confusion--all is well.

Restoring Settings

Is there a way to restore settings? I just updated my device and all my settings for LectureNotes are gone. Sadly, I didn't make a backup. I still have all my files, but that's it.

Sorry is this has already been mentioned, but is there a way to rotate imported pdf files? My lecture notes are being imported rotated 90 degrees, I've gotten around this by first having my device in portrait mode and then rotation locking it but moving between pages is not that intuitive as I have to scroll towards the left.

@Asterify: There is a toggle `auto-rotate´ in the app's PDF import settings. With this enabled, LectureNotes rotates the imported PDF pages if this makes it fit better on the page (meaning they can be scaled larger). Disable that toggle and no rotation will occur upon import.

To rotate the content of already imported pages can be done using the cutter tool (mark area, cut, rotate, and paste back). But we talk about more than a couple of pages, re-importing is probably faster.

@acadoid Ah yes, this worked, cheers for the quick response.

Slightly off topic, would you consider adding a highlighter tool in the future? Unless its already there and I just can't find it, heh.

@Asterify: There is no built-in highlighter, as tastes concerning highlighters differ widely. You can make one of the custom pencils to act as a highlighter, choose your favorite color and width, an intermediate alpha, and enable `draws behind other colors´. To quickly change to the highlighter, you can show the pencil toolbox (select `Show pencil toolbox´ in the `pencil´ menu, can be moved around by click-and-hold and setup in the app's tools settings; a single click on a pencil sets the pencil and a double-click on a custom pencil brings up the custom pencil settings) or assign it to your stylus button (in case your stylus has a button).

import pdf while in docking station

@acadoid, just wanted to let you know that I ran into the same issue again, and I think it is that while connected to the docking station, I can't i mport a pdf from dropbox. Once I disconnect from the docking station, everything goes back to normal without rebooting the tablet. It's not really an issue as it's easy to work around.

Convert video?

Hi,
I'm now an owner of all three apps...LectureNotes, LectureRecordings, and LectureVideos...(I hope the app is getting you some extra money, btw..)Anyhow, I am a middle school teacher and want to use my Galaxy Note 10.1 to create videos of my notes, images, and my audio. I tried doing a "share" with youtube and it told me that it cannot "share" files that are in a "cloud" drive. I don't have a cloud drive...Any suggestions?

I'm going to reply to myself with a little clarification. The message I'm getting is, "VIdeos cannot be uploaded from cloud services"
