@Hahahalalala: There is no reason why LectureNotes should lag on your 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1. Have you enabled `enforce GPU/hardware rendering´ in the device's developer settings? Enabling this option slows down LectureNotes a lot.
I'm not sure. Where is the enforce GPU/hardware rending? I can't find it in setting. Only found use fast temporary rendering?

@Hahahalalala: This option is in the device's developer settings, not in LectureNotes' app settings.
Thank you! I found it actually. I had to google how. But Force GPU rendering rendering is not on. Is there any other reason fix why typing is veyr slow on LectureNotes? Thanks!

After presentation started, the secondary display shows a black screen at the area of on-screen keyboard, using LecturePresentations (v1.0.1 thru v1.0.3) on Android (4.2.2 and 4.4.2). I'd like to show the page in full screen on the secondary display, even when I type a text.

@Tamasaka: There is unfortunately no direct way to detect whether a soft keyboard is visible or not. From LectureNotes' perspective, the only effect is that the display size changes, similarly as the display size changes when you rotate the device. One could only apply some heuristics to detect whether a specific display size change is due to a soft keyboard that came up, but this might fail on devices that support apps running in windows.

One (presumably obvious) solution is to use a hardware keyboard during presentations.

What I am considering is an additional mode for video recording and presentation in which the current page is displayed in full in the video/presentation.

@acadoid: Thank you for your precise explanation.
Fortunately, it is rare to type a text in presentations. In that rare case, I use a hardware keyboard as per your advice.
A Bluetooth keyboard worked very well in presentations through Miracast.
Thank you again.

allow path change on notebook settings during pdf import

@acadoid I'm a long time user of your fantastic LectureNotes app. I have a feature request that I was hoping would not be too difficult to implement:

1) Given that a user may inadvertently select the wrong import folder path when choosing to import a PDF from outside of LectureNotes (i.e. by clicking on LectureNotes as the application to open a PDF file in after choosing that file in the Android notifications bar or a file manager), would it be possible to allow the notebook folder path to be modifiable in the Notebook Settings form that is subsequently presented (prior to completion of the PDF import)?

OR/AND

2) Would it be possible to increase the size of the vertical real estate allocated for each folder name (either larger font or more vertical padding would be fine) in the selection list for the LectureNotes import folder path that is presented when choosing to import a PDF from outside of LectureNotes (i.e. by clicking on LectureNotes as the application to open a PDF file in after choosing that file in the Android notifications bar or a file manager)?

Background: A while back, I posted a description of my streamlined pathway for converting PPTs to PDF (via CloudPrint) and then importing into LectureNotes format (by selecting LectureNotes after clicking on the newly converted PDF in the Android notification bar). I still use that approach since to my knowledge you still haven't implemented direct PPT->LectureNotes transformation. 10-20% of the time, I find myself fat-fingering the wrong path in LectureNotes (because the vertical real estate for each folder name row in the selection list is very small) after selecting the PDF to import (from the Android notifications bar) and I'm then unable to change the path in the notebook settings form subsequently presented by LectureNotes. This can be pretty annoying as I then have to import the PDF into the wrong LectureNotes folder followed by manually locating and moving the new LectureNotes notebook into the proper folder. With my streamlined conversion approach, cancelling the import and then restarting it would be an even more cumbersome process click-wise.

Thanks for the excellent application and I hope you consider this request.

@wingsandfloats: So the point would be to allow to change the path in the new notebook dialog. Interesting idea, I noted it down.
I echo this! I have a whole bunch of notebooks in the "root" folder, and I'm getting to the point where I would like to create subfolders and start to organize my items. I can't seem to find a way to "move" notebooks into other folders. If I go to "Notebook settings" for any particular notebook, at the very top it shows its path... would be very nice for there to be some sort of drop-down where I could re-assign its path. I think this is what wingsandfloats meant?

I've been using this wonderful app for over a year. I'm an engineering professor and use this app with a Galaxy Note 10.1 to prep notes and solve problems (HW solutions, etc). It's amazing to be able to do math with the same resolution as with a pencil and paper, but with all the extra digital enhancements. Also bought the "LectureVideos" extension and have used it quite a bit to create online content for my courses. I feel like my Galaxy Note would be worthless without this app. Thanks!!!

slow app

Lecture notes is pretty slow for me. Importing pdfs seems to take a long time. It also takes about 5 seconds of waiting before a page will load when scrolling. This makes it pretty inconvenient to flip back and forth between pages. I HAVEN'T tinkered with the settings too much, besides making a custom toolbox. Can someone help me out?

I don't have forced gpu rendering enabled my developer settings. I'm using a one year old, stock Samsung galaxy note pro 12.2.

@coldriverjoe: I am glad to hear that you like the app.

To move a notebook or a folder to a new location, long-click on the notebook or folder until the popup menu appears, select `Move notebook´ or `Move folder´, respectively, and choose the new location. The suggestion by wingsandfloats (which will appear in the next update) adds a second possibility.
@cooodyt: Difficult to say why page loading takes so long. How much free space is left in the file system (file systems get slower as they fill up)?

In any case, it is recommended to enable `use fast page rendering´ in the app's display settings on high-resolution devices such the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. Then, LectureNotes uses a faster but less accurate rendering algorithm. The difference will hardly be noticeable on a high resolution display (except for extreme zoom levels), but response to writing, scrolling, and zooming will significantly improve.

@acadoid I still have 4gb of space free. When I say it's slow, this only applies when in editing mode. Overview takes a second to load all the pages, but has zero scrolling load time once it's complete.I had those settings renamed before but it didn't do much. Am I perhaps importing my pages as too large of a file? I could loss them at a lower resolution so long as it doesn't compromise too much quality. I'm usually just using this to read and jot notes on etextbooks. I just need some of the diagrams and pictures to be of decent quality at half page width zoom.

@cooodyt: A 2560px times 3622px notebook page layer gets loaded on my Nexus 10 (which should be slower than your Galaxy Note Pro 12.2) in less than a second. Which resolution (width and height) did you choose when creating the notebook? Does the notebook contain multiple layers (layers are loaded individually)?

Problems with a typed text using the keyboard

Hi. I've bought LectureNotes and LectureRecordings a few days ago to use with my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, and I'm planning to buy LectureVideos and LecturePresentations (these ones, even if I'm not using that much, but at least for support your very good work).

I'm trying to use LectureNotes as my default software to use at the school, but I'm facing some problems with the text input by keyboard. On all other softwares, such Samsung S Note, Microsoft OneNote, etc., I can create a text box anywhere on the page and mix it with the drawings. And I even can move if I'm not happy with its position. This is very useful if I need to type something after a draw. Is it possible to work on this and increase the way to use?

And a last thing (also a issue with typed text using keyboard): when I type more than the page fits (a big text), the text box, instead of break the text and transfer what lasts to the next page, the page hides the content of the text that didn't fit on the page, what become very difficult to export, print or share that page.

I hope you get what I'm trying to say, as my english is not that good. Thanks in advance!

@tuzimonline: Besides the text layer which works essentially like a text editor or word processor and has no free placement, there is a text drawing tool that allows free placement of the text. The text drawing tool can be accessed either via the pencil toolbox (select `Show pencil toolbox´ in the `pencil´ menu, can be moved around by click-and-drag and setup in the app's tools settings) or via the drawing tools menu (you need to enable this menu in the app's menu settings).

The text layer is page-wise, as everything else in LectureNotes; there is neither automatic page-break nor text reflow; the bottom of the visible area is indicated by a horizontal line. However, you can insert a page-break manually using the item in the keyboard menu.
