@takeshi6000: Difficult to say from a distance. Did you recently install apps that might run in the background and consume RAM? You could have a look into the Android system settings, there should be an entry to display the current RAM occupancy.

Bad news that this problem also occurs with Android 4.

The only other app i installed after installing Lecture Notes was Lecture Recordings lol. Pity the thinkpad's microphone can't even record me speaking properly! I do have a task manager that displays RAM usage and as expected it skyrockets when the "Out of memory, trouble ahead" warning appears.

***** I've just uninstalled and reinstalled lecture notes for the second time and it seems to have fixed the problem for now.

Maybe to use an external microphone.
Propably you will need an adapter as the audio connector at the TPT is for headsets normally (4 wires, Stereo + Mic+ ground )
But then you can even use some which are pointing in the direction of the speaker.

Hi Michael, I'm using LectureNotes now for a couple of days on a Galaxy Note 10.1 and it's really fantastic! Finally I bought the full version.
While testing around I found another note-app called "write" which has the feature to show a "web-window " (a browser) on half the screen.
This is extremely helpful because you do not need to switch between the browser and the note-app if you need a formula or some information.
Is there any way you could add such a functionality to LectureNotes?

Yazza182,

I'm using LectureNotes in combination with OverSkreen for that. It's not exactly the same, but it works OK.

Lecturenotes integration with Evernote

I have a question about sending a few pages from a lecturenotes notebook (not the whole notebook) to evernote.

I keep a shortcut to a notebook on my homeage and use it for all kinds of meeting notes, ideas, etc. After each meeting, I like sending a couple pages of meeting notes to evernote and tagging them with the appropriate project tags. I can do this easily if I send one page at a time as the "share" option allows me to select my evernote tags just as I would with any new note. However, if I use the Notebooks Overview and select several pages to send at once to evernote (not as pdfs), they automatically go tagged as "lecturenotes." I then have to open evernote and retag my notes. Am I missing something? It's not a big deal, but it would be convenient if I could select my tags when sending a few pages at a time.

This is a great app; don't know how I would function without it.

@werpnst8: Do you use `share tagged pages´ or `export tagged pages to Evernote´ in notebook overview? Note that there is a difference between these two methods: When `sharing´, LectureNotes ZIPs together the notebook pages (either all or the one that you tagged in overview) including keywords and issues what in Android terms is called a `send intent´, and other apps can act as `receiver´. Evernote might show up as possible `receiver´ in this case. When `exporting to Evernote´, LectureNotes issues an Evernote-specific intent only referring to the notebook pages.

I've tried both.. sharing and exporting. If I use "share tagged pages" then the pages get zipped together and added to a new note as a PDF. While it is nice to then be able to use my tags, I prefer not to send as PDF because I can't search later within the note. If, on the other hand, I use "export tagged pages to evernote" then they go as PNG (which is nice) But then they are automatically tagged as 'lecturenotes' which I change manually later.

Thanks again for the help and for the terrific app.

@werpnst8: When sharing a notebook (either complete or selected pages), LectureNotes does not produce a PDF, this seems to be done by Evernote.

When `exporting to Evernote´, would you prefer to have no tags at all?

Actually, I guess I'd rather have the "lecturenotes" tag than none at all. At least this way, I can park all my different notes under one tag until the end of the day and then before leaving the office I can retag as needed. Thanks anyway.

Also, I just realized that PDFs in evernote are searchable if I upgrade to the paid version of EN. I'm thinking I might do that as I really like this instant filing and retrieval method of my LN notes.

So thanks again.

I have recently started using LectureNotes with my Galaxy Note 10.1 and love almost everything about the app. Thanks for the hard work. I have one question about exporting a note to Evernote. It appears to go to EN as a PNG file. That is better than a PDF as the handwriting recognition of EN is much better for image files, but EN does not show a preview of the written note in the thumbnail view on the android app, web app, or desktop version. All I see is a blank white block. Not until I open the note in it's own window do I see what is written. When I export a note to EN from S-Note, I choose JPG format, and EN completes the handwriting recognition and I get a preview of my handwritten note. Is the PNG file created by LectureNotes or EN? Is there a way to change the export to EN to be a JPG file?

Thanks and keep up the great work!

@beginner: LectureNotes does not allow to directly sync between devices, but there are several ways to achieve that. The most common (and easiest) approach is putting the LectureNotes app directory at a place on your SD card that gets automatically synced with the cloud service of your choice, thereby indirectly syncing your notes between devices.

---------- Post added at 12:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 AM ----------

@taylordawg: LectureNotes stores your notes in PNG files and passes handles to these PNG files to Evernote upon exporting. There is presently no way to change the exported files to JPEG (in fact, PNG is the much better format, as it is lossless, in difference to JPEG), but this could be done. It is strange that Evernote treats PNG and JPEG differently, I was not aware of that.

@acadoid: I wonder if the reason I'm unable to have the software save notebooks to my ext sd card is because perhaps my card is formatted in exfat?

@grimloktt: I just double-check on my devices, I can set the app directory to the external SD card without problem, but is a VFAT file system in my case. I am not 100% sure, but I don't think that the file system should make any difference. Can other apps write to your external SD card?

My Setup

Hi all, I've been using Lecture Notes(paid version) for about 1 month. I thought i'd share the setup i use for school.

Apps:
- Dropbox
-DropSync( free version)
-Lecture Notes
-ES File Explorer File Manager

Setup:

-Create a DropBox account, if you don't already have one.
-Make a folder titled School(or Work or whatever is appropriate) on your tablet. The free version of Dropsync allows you to choose only one folder to have synced between your tablet and the cloud, so set this to the folder we just created.
-Set LectureNotes to use the newly created folder as it's default folder. I've created seperate Notebooks(which are viewable as folders on Dropbox from my PC), and each of my lectures are separate Notes.

- Since all of my school is using the PDF import process, i don't bother exporting them to PDF to view them. I just hop on the pc and view the image files created by the app, or if i'm reviewing on my tablet, open the note natively.

Griefs:
-Downloading the pdf's i use for lectures on the tablet is a pain. The browsers on android won't let you choose where to save the file. So by default it gets put in the Downloads folder, than I have to use ES File Explorer File Manager to move the file to my main folder(School in this example). However if I download the pdf on my pc, and have it sync, it's alot easier to grab and be organized with from inside LectureNotes.

-Importing PDF's is somewhat time consuming. You can mess with the import settings to improve the process(e.g change the quality), but it's not an exactly 100% ready solution. I find if i squabble into class late i'm sitting their converting my pdfs while missing notes. So be prepared, sometimes as I walk to class i wip out my tablet to start the import process.

Just thought i'd share.

Yes. For example, Titanium Backup writes to it regularly per my user preferences in settings.

@DiJu519: Since you anyway download the PDF file to your PC, you could run there a

pdftoppm -r 150 -png school.pdf school
zip school.zip school-*.png

(where `school´ needs to be replace by the file name and `150´ is the resolution in DPI) , transfer the ZIP file to your tablet, and import it as image set. This will yield the same result, and the conversion on your PC is probably much faster than the conversion on your tablet.

@acadoid

I read one of the highest rated comment on Google Play that the eraser tool erases written notes and the pdf image below it. Can you implement the option to set the pdf as a background so that the eraser tools does not erase the pdf?

Thanks
