Edit: Firmware update fixed issues.

Mine doesn't do the 4 spinning dot general notification..

Samsung support couldn't help.

I even hard reset my phone and had the cover exchanged.

LED notification is turned on in settinggs.

How do I enable the general 4 dot notification ?

I am not seeing any notification aside from the standard missed calls or new text message. Running stock 4.4.4 Canadian Note4.

Maybe our phone needs to be updated to get the additional notifications?

Yeah that might be the case....or we got shafted and canadian Note 4s or canadian led flip covers simply lack the feature.....

The Source has a 30day return policy so if I don't get an update which enables the notification, I will simply return it.

My review

I received this case from Samsung yesterday and I have to say I have mixed feelings about it.

First off it's ridiculously expensive (£50) and you don't get too much for that cash. Don't get me wrong, it is of good build quality and it obviously fits the phone perfectly but it has a lot of drawbacks.

So, it looks pretty and it is cool to show off the very bright animated LEDs to those around you. It offers a neat solution to carry 2 credit cards (or a card with a bank note). It also protects the screen well. It shows basic notifications on the fly, so if you have some headphones on or are in a meeting/quiet place you can see any calls or text alerts. This is just an icon but it will say how many of each you missed. That's pretty much it.

The downsides are that in order to see the display later for missed events or the time, you need to either quickly flip open/close the case or tap the power button. Both of which will show you notifications and the time on the phone screen anyway, so it's a pointless gimmick. You also won't be able to answer a call from it, with the case closed (like the S-View case can) You also won't be able to take photo's with the case closed or folded right back (again like the S-View can) and you won't be able to use wireless charging (you could buy a wireless receiver but you would need to hack it about in order for it to work)

Compared to the HTC offering it looks more premium but lacks usefulness.

So whilst this cover is all about "Bling", and that might appeal to you, it represents poor value for money compared to the S-View case for example.

Glad I came across this before dumping $80 on this case. Seems like it's all style and no substance. Very Apple like it's price vs usefulness factor.

Will hold off me thinks and have a look a look at this instead

I have the charcoal cover also and here are my thoughts:

1)It is thicker than the original rear cover - with the case in place the back is flush with the camera lens. Also, the cover is slightly larger all round than the phone, a bit like a hardback book cover is bigger than the pages of the book. This, I find, makes the phone easier to hold and less prone to dropping.
2)I've had previous flip covers for previous phones which had space for bank cards in but their designs didn't allow for the thickness of the cards, hence when cards were put in the cover didn't fit flush. This has a recess for the card and therefore sits flush.
3)The volume buttons remain tactile through the spine and work well.
4)The case looks premium. It really sets the phone off nicely.
5)It protects the phone well and is OEM so the fit is perfect. Why drop a load of money on a nice phone that looks great and then cover it in a load of cheap plastic?!
6)Yes, the functionality is a little limited, but I will refer you to 4 above!
7)I don't consider the price to be ridiculous. I like good looking design and expect to pay a premium for it... That HTC cover looks awful compared to this.
8)The S-View case doesn't look anywhere near as good as this, IMO.

I agree about the quality of the case, in my review I did mention that. It does not look tacky and although made from synthetic materials it does look very premium. I also own the S-View case with wireless charging. It's made from exactly the same materials but side by side the LED case somehow looks nicer and there is a certain pleasure in seeing those LED's light up. But I still maintain that it is too expensive. It cost me the same as the S-View case but comes with with less functionality.

The S-View case scores high because I can dial out and answer calls, take photographs, check my heart rate, see notifications in the notification bar, see the weather forecast, signal strength, turn on a torch and wirelessly charge my phone, ALL without even opening the cover. You certainly get more for your money.

I have been using the LED case for a while now, it looks great and I have grown to really like it. It is definitely worth considering if you accept its limitations. I would be considering it more worthy if it included the wireless charging element for the same price however.

That case looks awesome and very reasonably priced too. I am tempted to buy one but I already spent too much on cases recently. Let us know if you buy one and whether it's any good.

Like others... and I have LED flip case :)
But in my opinion its very good protection for phone, the best protection for screen... and it looks incredible good on the phone.
The LED notification for me is very good thing. When you are sitting somewear whit a lot of people and zou get a message or somebody calls you... nobody can see who calls you or sending text messages... you just get one simple and nice notification... for me that is the best thing.
Before this phone and case I had Note 3 with S view cover... but there was still screen...
It's true that is very expensive... but if you had 800 euro for phone...you sure have another 50 for case :)

Hi guys, just snagged a led case off eBay . I was wondering if there's any app of hack to add extra features to the case ....like whatsapp notification etc.
