LED Color Changes by Screen Type

It appears models/versions aren't the issue here. Screen type seems to be the deciding factor on whether you have multicolor or just white LED. BOE screen is only white, EBBG screen can be changed to multicolor. You can check which screen type you have in Device View in Engineering Mode.

Previously:

I have a theory that some models of Redmi 4x don't support color changing LEDs. No matter what I've tried mine is white all the time. My phone version is 4x Global model MAG138 as shown in the attached image. Please post which version you have and whether or not you've managed to change your LED colors. I'll update the thread with a tally if I can get enough responses. Thanks!

MAE136 2 yes 1 no
MAI132 1 yes 1 no

According to your updated thread ebbg have the colour led.. I am having the same but no effect.. It used to blink white.. tried each and every method...
One member also mentioned that the PCB board is also a deciding factor..? So, what do you think..?

Dont know if @cristianpark tried this. The easiest way (if these codes or apps dont work) would be to backup current rom, flash miui based rom, check board & display, restore backup.

I did but forgot to post back...none of the codes worked on DotOS (it seems like the code is recognised but it doesn't do anything at the end, just clears number input of the phone app)

It's ebbgdjn and I m unable to find my board model as I am on custom rom and those engineering codes didn't work..

I think colored LED depends on release date. And maybe all phones after July (or September) has only white color. What do you think about it?

Nah its pretty sure now that it depends on display.
Ebbg works multicolor.
Ebbgdjn, boe and ??? doesnt, only white led.

I used TWRP to flash it BTW, intead of magisk.

So my ebbgdjn (manu 09.2017) is white only.

Manufacturing date seems to be the key, they just put in white only led.

Other two with color led are older, dont know exact manu date but ordered in May & August 2017.

I'll try some custom rom soon to check any variant.

Yup... I think it's all about manufacturing month... They just stopped implementing colur leds in newly manufactured devices simple as that... Doesn't matter what screen and what board you have..

Ok i currently cant try custom rom because i cant backup my current rom.

I guess it would be useless anyway as i got three redmi 4x nearby with same setup (xiaomi.eu ROM latest weekly/beta) and
two of them
(older ones, ebbg & boe, both ...F... board, 06.2017 & 04.2017, both eu plug, global version MAG138)
got color led and
mine
(ebbgdjn, vl... board, manu 09.2017, uk plug, global version MAG138) only got white.

If someone comes up with a 09.2017 version with working colored led ... i will go crazy

no colored LED, but it have the ability, since i try few MOD's and one of them works with 4 colors but was full of bugs. Also miui 8.5.4.0 NAMMIE ROM have an option to choose LED color, but its doing nothing,,,,is there any further info on that device model ?
