Since xiaomi it's..... well xiaomi, they usually change some parts of the phone in later production ones like ours, in redmi 4x the fingerprint reader and screen type was changed. So I really doubt that they have changed the rgb led for a white one in this device, maybe this led board that they have changed uses a diferent driver or a custom aw2013 driver, I really don't know what they did that's why i'm searching for it.
Is the source release any help in this case? Im eagerly waiting for some dev who can fix this, as im not capable of doing this. @TecnoTailsPlays

Hi everyone, is it now certain that it's the manufacturing date which determines the type of LED? If that's the case, is there a consensus on the date threshold? Thanks a lot! :)

I accepted it, but id rather have a bigger battery than in the 4A (only 3k mAh) so better think about that twice. If size doesnt matter you could also go for redmi 5 / A / X whatever they call it now.

Thanks for your contribution. I understand it may sound silly to make a decision based on the notification LED, but it's one of the few features I care about. I have a Redmi 2 now (4.7'', Snapdragon 410, 2200mAh, RGB LED, Dual SIM + microSD) and I am perfectly happy with it, if not for the smashed glass.

I have low, but hard to match expectations for a phone: cheap, small, usable (not TOO slow), RGB LED, Dual SIM+mSD. So size does matter, in fact I wish I could find a 4'' device with barely decent specs, but the market clearly went in the opposite direction (and I'm not getting an iPhone SE). Also, if I am not wrong the Redmi 5 series has a monochrome LED, so I would lose too many of the features I want.

The Redmi 4A would barely feel like an improvement over my current phone, but at least I would retain the RGB LED and the non-outrageous size. If you can think of an alternative that better matches my expectations, I am all ears! :)

Sorry about the OT/blurb. :silly:

Nah, i get you, i also wanted colored led but i didnt get it. All the 4X i bought had color led except mine, but like i said i accepted it in the end.
Hard to find something fitting, i've always glanced at the sony conpact series but they are to expensive. Im not going to buy such over priced phones - again.
Dual sim + sd slot is almost gone, i couldnt even name one up2date phone with it.
If im looking for a new phone i check kimovil.com, maybe you'll find something over there.
I also wished i could get a smaller one but in the end the 4X got the best price / power & usage value. Im happy with it. My best (except cam) & cheapest phone.

GL :)

PS
Maybe you find a 4X manufactured b4 08.17 ;) my order from ibuygou on 12.17 shipped a 07.17 phone

Right now I'm feeling pretty reluctant to what I would perceive in any case a downgrade, rather in the mood for trying to replace the screen on my Redmi 2. If I break it in the process... I'll think about all this again. :D

Getting an old 4X would be good, but I'm not willing to buy a new one from the Far East hoping to get lucky but knowing I will probably have to send it back. I'm keeping an eye on the used market, though.

Same feeling here dude.
I was actually an Compact series user (z3, z5, x) wonderful devices (till they start to fall apart) Defective audio jacks design, cheap digitizer panel, hell of a crappy side caps... and the list goes on. No more hype for me either.
If Sony wants my money, it's better to stop selling garbage.
There are new players in the market, and they're doing pretty well.
Just IMHO.
