Get an normal watch and ignore your computer monitor...phone in your hand...press enter and look 3 seconds on the watch then press the power button on the phone(step 1)... wait for your phone to reboot... press enter and look 4 seconds on the watch then press the power button on the phone(step 2)... just wait and you are s-off...
That's how i did it
anybody updated to hboot 1.8? do we need to repeat the entire procedure?
thanks worked like a charm with this method

Hi, now i have s-off legend and alphared hboot 1.0. But in the 3rd step my legend was 15 mins saying me flahsing .... : ok. And in my phone only flash hboot and no recovery, i flash it later. I had to reflash my rom for my phone start normaly and not start in Hboot. This is normal?

I have a rom blayo rom with a2sd.

Thanks, now i have hboot alpharev 1.0 and clockmodrecovery.

I'm not sure if this has been answered or not, but when I try to do the power-button bit my phone is frozen as soon as the message comes up. I managed to get to the next step anyway by rebooting into fastboot then plugging it back in, but it froze for that step too. I did the same thing and plugged it back in, and it rebooted normally and the program went into a terminal. Will the timing thing (3s then 4s) work? And do I need to press it 3s after I press any key on the comp or before?

Follow the onscreen instructions... If you get the timing right, the rest is pretty much straightforward.

I did follow the onscreen instructions, but when the "Press the power button on your phone NOW" came up, it was already frozen, and didn't work. I was pressing it repeatedly for about a minute and nothing happened.

I got past that part with the counting method, but it seems to have stuck on "Flashing new bootblock: OK". It's done nothing for half an hour now, and I don't know whether to leave it be for the next 3 hours (I have to go out) or take it out. I can't tell if it's done or not.

I pulled it out, and rebooted - it would only boot into recovery until I re-flashed CM7, and it's been working as it had been since then. I'm not sure if it worked, though - it said it had flashed HBOOT successfully, and the bootloader has a label on it saying "--- AlphaRev ---", and it says S-OFF, but the error and that a font changer app didn't work suggests to me that it may not have worked. Is there any way to test?

Just go back into the bootloader menu, s-off will be displayed there. Volume up + power on.

The "That means it works, right?" was pretty much when the doubt went away. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Still, I wonder what went wrong? The unchanged splashscreen and the phone not booting until a reflash I think means the procedure failed, but I've still got S-OFF.

HTC, and, as I said, it does say S-OFF in the bootloader.
I just posted this in another thread:

As far as I'm aware of it there were some devices shipped with S-OFF, but it was incomplete in terms of actual write access to the /system and /recovery partitions.

I'm curious, if you do "adb remount" after booting and write a file to /system does it stay there after a reboot?
