Same thing here, using bell legend.

I'm getting the following error and I'm not sure why:

"Your phone was not recognized or is unsupported at this time. If you are 100% sure your phone type should be supported in this version, please not the Model ID displayed."

The model ID is PB7611000 and it's Bell Canada's HTC Legend. Bootloader version is 0.43.001

Like Grammar and some of the others I used unetbootin to make a bootable flash drive which worked fine, and I also tried the process using CM6.1 and Blay0's rom, getting the same error each time.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Step-by-Step: Howto S-OFF your HTC Legend with HBOOT 0.43 and Alpharev 1.8

The timing on this thing is impossible. The counting-method won't get me through it either. Any others tips from the ones that successfully complete the procedures?

If the power button is not working, you pressed too late. Note that the instructions on your computer screen are not reliable at all (if not nonsense).

It's all about timing, I managed to S-OFF my HTC Legend (rooted, HBOOT 0.43) by following Whoozers instructions from this thread on page 7.
Note that when he is refering to step 1 it was titled "Step 2" on my screen, and his step 2 was "Step 3" on my screen.

  1. Backup your ROM :)
  2. Get a normal watch and ignore the timing messages on your computer screen
  3. Boot your computer into the Alpharev medium you prepared (CD or bootable USB, doesn't matter)
  4. Perform the first step while your phone is fully booted: Waiting for device... > Install Recovery etc. > Rebooting your phone)
  5. Phone in your hand... wait till computer mentions something like "Step 2 - Press any key and watch...". Then press any key on the computer, look on the watch for 3 seconds, then press the power button on the phone. Note that Alpharev installs some files.
  6. Wait for your phone to reboot... wait for step 3 to initiate.
  7. Then again: Press any key and look on the watch for 4 seconds, then press the power button on the phone
  8. Wait, check the messages on your phone and you are s-off

Note that this bootloader screen is your reward:

sorry for asking here.. but here it is. I hate the stockapps in every custom rom i tried. Instead of forcing uninstall with paul o brians way in titanium backup and reboot phone after each app can i with s-off delete them right away in /data or just in regular way in titanium?

can anyone post an UpdateZip for hboot which contains the alpharev hboot?

I am S-OFF but still on the stock 1.00.0001 hboot and would like to change to the apharev version

S-OFF has been archived via XTC-Clip

Hi Folk!
Planning to reach s-off via xtc clip. Already buy it. When s-off is done - need to hboot with custom MTD for large /data partition.
Question is compatible hboot bravo cm7 r2 for HTC legend?

Ok, I think I have a problem. I got through step 1 (with the 3-seconds-stopwatch rule), but failed the second step. Now, when I reboot my phone, I see the AlphaRev SPLBOOT window, and it tries to update HBOOT. However, at the end, it gives an error (because the phone is disconnected).

Now it suggests to restore the nandroid-backup. I made a nandroid-backup with RomManager, but when I move into recovery (don't know whether is Clockwork recovery), it suggests me to restore the backup through ADB, with the command "nandroid-mobile.sh restore"

Does anyone have a suggestion how to restore this rommanager backup?

update: Ok, nevermind about this problem. Got my nandroid backup back and running (didn't know how to get to the CWM from the darkscreen with the red triangle, until I read somewhere: press volume up + power button :D). Continuing my timing game.....

last-update: and finally, it worked! First I tried the stopwatch trick (3 sec, 4 sec), but that didn't work (had first step yes, second: fail). What worked for me, was starting to press the power button as soon as I hit Enter. Approx. 0.5 sec between presses, so you have enough time to see HBOOT USB PLUG (make sure this is shown, before pressing Enter at the computer at all!!) switch to FASTBOOT, and then stop immediately. Everything will go then smoothly.

I just go the procedure to s-off my htc legend. Everything works fine. Now i'm in step three, the computer tell me "Waiting for flashing to complete" and the phone tells me "Flashing AlphaRev HBOOT: SUCCESS!" and a md5 sum and the last text is "Flashing new bootblock: OK" ... but now nothing changed since 10 minutes. What should i do now?
