Phone Freezing

I've purchased P2 in May'17, everything was working fine untill last month the phone now sometimes freezes for a few seconds.
For e.g. if I try to make a call and tap on contact noting happens and I keep on tapping continuously only then a call is made. If a call comes and I try to pickup noting happens and only after many attempts the call is answered.
If I tap on fingerprint sensor, nothing happens and only after a few seconds the phone comes to life. It's so irritating
Any suggestions for what may be the problem. I've not yet updated my phone (due to bugs from other people reviews and I fear after the update it can get worse) and its on stock android.
Thanks

I'm planning to buy this device in next 2 days in flipkart sale. I will get it for around 11,700 indian rupees. Is it a good buy now considering its a last year device? And only issue i heard that is bothering is the screen stops working in certain parts. Many users complained that in lenovo forum too. Any advice is much appreciated.

Is your experience really that bad? I was mainly considering this for battery life and amoled display. And overall performace of snapdragon 625 is ok. But the isuues made me rethink. And also did you get rid of the above mentioned issue? If the issues are software related than i can manage flashing a good custom rom.

Well battery is really good of this handset. And I've not yet got rid of the issue as I'm waiting for experts to put some light on it.
Don't know whether its is software related issue:confused:

You should definitely go for this... And not all the units have touch issues... Mine is perfectly fine... Flagship performance, battery, super amoled great screen, decent camera... All these are the features you will know once u use this phone personally

It's been around 12 days since I submitted my P2 in the Lenovo care. Since then, no update from their side. I am really helpless. They have told me that warranty will cover all the charges of repair, but these many days without any android device seems pretty much tough. Lenovo P2 spare parts are so hard to get? Really bad experience so far.

Why do you want to waste your money on a phone that has several manufacturing defects?

OS & APPs hangs, speaker stutters, network vanishes, screen has issues & much more.

Better get Redmi Note 4, it's much much better than Lenovo P2.

Duddy, I have been using this phone for 5 months now. Not faced any of the issues you said till date. You consider rn4 as a better device!

I have 3 of my friends using that crap. Ther had their devices for 4 months now. Each face some or another issue.

One is facing extreme lag while playing games which I also play in p2 without any lag he is facing.

Other one having heating issue while using it for browsing.

Third, has screen blinking issue when unlocking and lines appearing and disappearing on right side of screen.

It's not just the hardware that matters. It's the the choice of components which compensate with better quality and output. In that department, p2 is a clear winner.

Screen is of excellence quality. Only the 2.5d curved glass on top is an issue if you are too much careless while using it.

There are defective units in all of the manufacturing models of every handset. That does not mean the whole product line is no-brainer. These are made for specific users in mind in specific market segment.

In the post above i did not mention the biigest reason why i wantto buy lenovo p2. I am a really really heavy user. Although people claim that redmi note 3 battery is good. I need to charge it twice in a day. I used to charge it once when i first baught the device. But over time the battery has degraded. I really want more juice from my devices that the biggest reason thats why I am considering lenovo p2.

Pros and cons of this phone remain the same that when it has been released.

Unmatched overall quality / battery ratio. Sure there might be a few Chinese 100000mah battery behemoth around, but they are meh.
Nice screen.
Not blazing fast but snappy enough.
Average audio quality.
Terrible camera.
Buggy custom roms.

If you invest the time to fix those aspects yourself you might be an happy panda like me.

AICP official rom is still (imho) the best all rounder rom if you don't care about volte.
Look for ssusb lineage wakelock to fix its battery drain bug (or don't forget to plug the charger after each reboot).
Look for the light flow thread down there to fix the no led bug. Very nice app actually, would have used it without that bug anyway.
Experiment with Dolby atmos and Ainur audio if the earphone sound quality matters to you.
Camera quality will remain bad in low light condition. Least worst combination I could find is camera zoom fx app for photos and footej for videos.
If using Bluetooth consumes insane amont of juice the solution is: develloper menu > enable BT report / log > reboot > disable BT report / log > reboot.
If you wanna stick a tempered glass on it, go for Brotect screen protection to make sure you won't get annoying bubble at the edges of the screen.

Add the usual Android tweaks to that mix and it is now a funky little phone that never lets you down.
The last drawback at that point are the nosebleeds you will get reading a few total retards roaming this board.

Oh, also signal quality is not bad, but not beyond criticism either.

I do not face any signal quality issues.
Screen is the best in this price range.
Also audio is really good. Use good pair of iems (in-use that ma750i) without eq and it matches iPhone 7 quality. I am not kidding here
The audio quality is really good. No need of any eq.

I still didn't need to root as the stock ROM is quite good.

Must buy if you don't care much about camera quality which you will not get in any phone below 50k.

I have good earphone :)
I'm pretty affirmative that this phone is really average out of the box considering sound quality. I compare it to my previous one; a Mate 8, wich was awesome on that matter.
But managing to make Ainur and Dolby works side by side made it a bit better.

Also considering signal I live in a really bad area on that matter. But still, I never missed a call with the Mate 8, wich happens frequently with the P2.

Yep screen is good. I wish it were a 6 with even more battery behind it !

Regarding audio it was very very similar to iPhone 7. It's balanced with good miss, treble and deep bass. Don't compare it to v4a or Dolby with heavy eq for bass n treble. The audio out is very clean with good stereo separation.

Maybe you're right. Even though my taste are not Beats + bass equalizer, I'm neither a fan of the "japanese school of sound".
So I've been amazed what can be achieved with some of these eq, brilliant middle grounds of punchy sound retaining (and adding) details and clairity.

Out of the box I would say P2 sound is FLAT like FLAT. And neither was I impressed by it's clarity. But I reckon maybe that's a matter of taste.

I am a user who listens a lot of music through headphones. I also flash different sound mods to my device. I am definitely interested in knowing the sound quality. Bass is not all that important to me. I like wider soundstage and seperation.

This is the best audio (+ battery+ screen+ performance) smartphone imo u would get in this price range. If u want better go for ZTE axon 7, LG v20, v30 or HTC 10.
HTC 10 is also flat sounding out of the box but did not test it side by side with Lenovo P2. So can't compare here.
I am a critical listener and was quite impressed with the audio quality.

Even the similar speced Moto z play sound was poor compared to P2.

Yes. I think you are right here. We cant expect it to match devices like v20, v10 or axon 7 etc. But even if it has above average audio quality. It will be good given its price range. And you know we can always rely on mods here to improve the quality a bit.

I have a Redmi note 3 right now. Its ok in rerms of performace and everything. But some people say that it has decent audio. But in my view it doesn't even have 'decent' audio. It is just bad. It gives mono output. I hate it when all the sound is coming from one place and there is no soundstage or seperation of instruments. Yes, they have given some headphone tweaks and equaliser setting but thats just sh*t. Doesn't improve audio experience that much.

Hey,
I have ordered this phone from Amazon France. Waiting for it to be shipped. I had very good experience with its predecessor, the P1. From this thread I can see that there are a lot of issues, but I just want a quick summarize.
1/ What is the latest firmware version?
2/ Is that latest firmware version stable and OK to use or is it fairly infected with bugs ? On my P1 I actually never let it update itself to Marshmallow, I stayed on Lollipop 5.1.1 for the entire time I owned the P1.
3/ Have most common problems been fixed with software updates or do they still exist either as software bugs or actual hardware defects ?
4/ Anybody knows if Lenovo is present in France for repair services? I searched for them on the list of after sale service providers on Amazon but I cannot find Lenovo, only Motorola which I understand is owned by Lenovo.
Thanks for any help. Greatly appreciated.
