Lack of image stabilization coupled with the smaller aperture (f2.0) simply throws itself out of the competition while in artificial lighting or low lighting.
But in natural light or bright lighting conditions, the exmor R sensor from Sony handles exceptionally well giving good dynamic range and low noise.

It's crazy how much software optimization dictates the quality of a photo and the lens.
For example, the sensor in this phone is the same used in the redmi note 4 but pictures taken with the P2 are decidedly better.
The other side of the spectrum, the LG G6 also uses the imx258 sensor but with a better lens and software optimization, is in the flagship category. At the same time you can see in low light the G6 camera falls apart a little due to limitation of this sensor.

I'm sorry for not supporint the thread with my samples, as i dont have them transfered to my pc yet, but i wanted to say is how i'm dissapointed with P2's camera.
I was Redmi Note 3 PRO user before P2. Right now its twice time cheaper phone, and easily to say taking twice better photos. Most of you showing what you captured are steady, good light (macro) photos. Im very happy with P2, because my main concern was battery life, but camera is simply a not funny joke from the company, considering price of the device. It's kinda unacceptable how bad, bad it is....

Hey guys, recently i bought a Lenovo P2 but I have a question regarding the stock camera app. Did the stock camera app quality improve after the nougat update because I didn't find any difference between the pictures taken with the stock camera app and pictures taken with Open Camera app. Then why everyone is saying the stock camera app is bad when compared with Open Camera app.
Also when i save pictures in .PNG format using camera-fv5, i dont see any improvement in quality of the picture though it takes about 16-20mb for each picture.
