i can confirm, that kingroot works on my p1a42 with P1C72_V2.8_1535_5.394.1 ROM

I've tried the beta of kingroot (v. 4.6.2 beta 1) and doesn't work
ROM version p1a42_S145_151207_ROW

Smake is speaking about root of P1a42 with changed ROM to chinese version P1c72 , your device is P1a42.
Before root you need to change ROM, guideline is presented as well by Smake.
Not sure if it is working.....

Lenovo P1 pro has two models. P1c72 is chiness model, has ram 3Gb and 16gb internal memory. P1a42 is international model, has 2gb ram and 32gb internal memory.

Why is is that root works for the same rom version for p1c72 and not for p1c42 ? Can we just change build.prop through flashing some zip and then try rooting ?

Android "5.1.1"
Android security update to "2015-12-01"
version "MPSS.DPM.2.0.2.c1-00105"
build "P1a42_S145_151207_ROW"
CPU "MSM8939 (8-core, 1.5GHz)"
RAM "2.0 GB"
internal stroage "32.0 GB"

That's all, no VIBE UI version.

That is correct .
P1C72_V2.8_1535_5.394.1_5.1.1 is rootable
Any P1C72_V2.8.... is rootable
The P1C72_V2.9.... it is not.

No, I'm in the #1 option. For now I prefer it because I can update safely. I hope that it will be possible to root the p1c42 ROM soon.

Seems to me you have original P1a42 with 2 GB RAM

Correct, my phone is official EU distribution with 2GB RAM, P1a42.
But I would like to root as many others...

NFC did not testet yet, had no reason to use it. But I will test it for you.
