Some people have to find something wrong with XZ.
It's a compliment really if they have to create new issues.
Since when was viewing angles on a phone so important. Lol.
It's not like we have to get up off the lounge and walk up to the screen and adjust it.
Can't wait to get mine.

What shocks me is the amount of rather siily[/I comments passed about the phone. Examples being finger prints, some guy even moans about the phone getting dusty? Others moan about the water resistant caps etc.

I truly don't understand these consumers? Reminds me when note books came out, they had a 9" monitor so people bought them THEN moaned about the small screen size! :silly:

The Xperia Z is a nice mobile. I am a complete gadget junkie. I find in all these matters its a question of compromise. I own the SGNote also the SGS!!!, I bought the note knowing it to have a huge screen that was the idea. What do I read but complaint after complaint about the size of the screen? The SGS111 is a great mobile, again not perfect the quality of construction in relation to materials is just not acceptable these days. The phone functions very well indeed but looks like something bought on a street market.

The water resistant flaps on the Z are there to serve a purpose, if a customer doesn't like the idea then why inflict oneself on the poor phone?
I keep reading utter rubbish about the term 'water proof' Big mistake. Water resistant, like a watch, will have limits. I read one report that a purchaser had used his phone while in the bath and complained that he couldn't use the screen? I am certain some of the customers have a challenged mental capacity and are not half as smart as the phone itself. Makes me ponder if some people need to take an IQ test before they are allowed to own such a phone:eek:

Again, this phone has glass both back and front. Can anyone in their entire life recall ever being able to touch class and NOT leave a finger print? Absurd comments passed by some people who just do not think before they purchase.

I am happy with my SG Note also the SGS!!!, I just don't like the quality and appearance of the materials used. This is choice as it is with everything we buy. Its all a question of compromise and a little good old fashioned common sense.

As for the next idiot who deliberately takes his phone into the water inside his bath I will drown the moron with my own two water proof hands.

We should open a thread about the most ludicrous statements made regarding such a phone or other gadget. Some of them are incredible..

Regards.

I love my phone I have had a few of the Xperia phones since the x10i , in my opinion the xz is a phone to be reckoned with , its sexy and blistering fast , people just like to find faults in things who cares that the angle view is not great this won't stop the phone doing what its good for running the OS the HD screen is the best I have seen so I have not found any probs with this awesome phone , well done Sony keep up the good work :)

I just shifted from a SGS 3 and i'm really amazed. This is one hell of a smartphone. It takes your breath away when you first hold it. The OS is appealing and smooth. The battery is not so bad as most of the people keep moaning about. This is the phone I've been dreaming of since I started using smartphones!

Elegance and hard son of a gun. Can that be used in the same sentence... Of course. Can now. Thank you Sony. The XZ is a design marvel.

A phone is a personal device, as long as it looks beautiful in terms if it's design and makes you stand out from the others when you holding your phone, I think it is already doing its job!

Not to mention the Z is one of the top spec devices for now.

This :good:

Having lost my Xperia S on Wednesday:crying:, I ordered a contract SXZ yesterday. It was on the same price as HTC1 and I was getting more and more doubtful as I read the thread on the forum.....But thank you! I like design, I like the water-proof (dropped my XS in the sink before...it was still fine though)...I like the brand...I like being unique. I'm excited to be amazed now :D

I like my XZ

I bought my Xperia Z a week ago and I'm satisfied with it. Didn't want to wait for the HTC One (camera only 4MP) nor the Galaxy S4 (IMO it's ugly). And on top of that I was seduced by the waterproof feature.

- I went to the beach and to the swimming pool with it and took a few pictures (even underwater using Camera Zoom, it's fun)! I even listened to some music underwater, not bad.

- Camera could be better but it's okay for a phone camera (it's certainly not bad).

- Not too many lags, nothing really annoying.

- I like the UI, minimal and pretty (with the possibility to change the theme).

- Battery life is good (better than my galaxy note's). It easily lasts a typical day on a full charge (taking pictures, 30 minutes or more of gaming, some web browsing, text messages, a few minutes phone calls).

Hope we'll have an update to improve the camera performance but I'm not holding my breath. And I don't really care for the 4.2.2 update but I'd like Sony to make sure we get updated to android 5.0 when it's out (and in a timely manner ;) fingers crossed)!

I have bought an XPZ and its really an amazing piece of technology in a premium package. Finally I have the feeling of owning a smartphone that will support me for a long time (as my sony vaio sz is already doing for several years).

The amazing aspect of the design is its simplicity, pureness of lines, timeless even. I had a XPS before this, a really nice phone but the loose back cover and the light strip was bugging my insides since day 3, I guess.

I don't have any intention to go scuba diving with the Z but it was great to answering a phone call, I was waiting for, while I was showering. Ok, I've closed the tap on the noise.

I'm really happy with it!

PS. : regarding viewing angle, I've just found out that I cannot see the screen for angles above 90 deg. Lol

XZ

Hellowww fellow XZ owners. I stumbled upon an article just now and thought I'd share this with you guys. For the people who don't feel like checking the link out, in short, the XZ has been the most popular phone of March according to Krusell! On top of that, Sony is featuring 2 sets in the top 5! 1 being XZ and number 5 the XZL. :good: up SONY!

My 2 cents...

Gorgeous, monolithic design without any useless flourishes. :victory:

Screen suits me: happy to have "average" (or "below average") viewing angles - and consider as much a feature - as I don't want other people seeing what's on my screen. Blacks aren't as black as my previous handset (Galaxy Nexus) but why would I want to watch a movie on my mobile? :p

Improved socket flap mechanism, compared to those I've encountered in the past. Can't imagine they'll break off anytime soon. Also digging that the phone advises with a popup dialog that a flap is open and may affect water resistant capability. :)

Doesn't matter that it's a Snapdragon S4, rather than the 600 series. Firstly, it's more than adequate (get a computer or tablet if you need the processing power). Secondly, software support for the hardware is so mature than we're guaranteed a raft ROMs and kernels and other goodies that aren't likely to be as robust for new chipsets. That, and Sony support? :good:

Amazing we're seeing so many compatible accessories so quickly as well.

No complaints with the materials used. Imagine if I had a HTC One it'd be dented everywhere by now.

TL;DR: Brilliant handset.

Great phone.
Clear calls.
Fast.
Classy.
Screen is amazing unless you have difficulties holding the phone in front of you properly. Lol.
Camera is fantastic.
Grapes shot taken late afternoon inside with low light. Super auto mode, macro, single shot settings.
With gs4 and HTC One the only real competition until July August Xphone release the choice was easy. My one x was great but QC let it down. HTC One will be the same....
My Gs3 was impossible to see the screen in bright sunlight. Something Australia definitely doesn't lack.
So GS4 amoled=fail for me. Plus their lack of interest towards developers these days nailed it.

I rather like my Xperia Z.

I've previously had many, many 'phones, including:

The HTC HD Mini. I really liked this one, if only the old Windows Mobile OS had been better supported I'd probably still have it now.

The Sony Arc. I liked the look of this one, but the build quality was rather [very] poor, the plastic body cracked within a week and I sold it.

The HTC Sensation XL. Again I liked the 'phone [still have it] the problem with this one was that the Apple Mac support for the synchronisation software was very poor and once the 'phone was upgraded to ICS it failed to sync with my Mac ever again. With no external storage I struggled to get music/pictures onto or off it.

The iPhone 5. Well at least the synchronisation worked, seamlessly! While I love my Apple Mac and wouldn't change it for the world, I never fell for the iOS in the same way. If it had had 'live' widgets and some more flexibility in the positioning of apps on the home screen I might have stuck with it. One thing that drove me mad was the lack of any 'back' button, only a small thing and perhaps if I'd never had an Android [or Windows Mobile] 'phone it might not have annoyed me so much.

So, what do I like about the Xperia Z? Well while the Sony Bridge For Mac is not very good, failing as often as it works, it does have some external storage which makes it a little easier to get information onto and off the 'phone, and I live in hope that Sony will get Bridge working - eventually... That screen is fabulous. It may not be as instantly bright as my iPhone 5, but it is much more pleasant to view for long-ish periods. It looks stunning, slim depth but large surface area - just what I wanted. Android is so much more flexible than iOS, a vast advantage. I am getting very good battery life so far, I'll be back at work next week and will be able to better judge the battery life, I was getting two days out of the iPhone 5 and fully expect to get that out of a 'phone with almost twice as much screen area.

If I could have a 'wishlist' of things to change? A larger number of icons on the home screen (6 x 5 has been suggested before in this thread and I'd agree with that) and more options to customise the shortcuts on the lockscreen would be a welcome improvement. Put the option to simply underline wrongly spelled words in, without the word suggestion feature above the keyboard taking up screen space. Apart from that? Pretty close to perfect. For now at least...

In reality the screen looks better than what you'd expect after reading reviews, even though black levels should be better.
  • Love the IP57 classification.
  • Blazing fast
  • Nice skin
  • Like the camera software
  • Looks really good

Unfortunately the digitizer pattern is só visible that I am thinking of selling it again....never had a phone with a digitizer pattern that was so visible; it almost seems like a permanent background.

"Selling it again":crying: If you have a problem return it to the store where you purchased it and request a new phone. All mobiles brands have the capacity to make a duff one now and then. Please don't tolerate a faulty phone, get it replaced and it that fails to do the trick demand your money back.

Some time ago I purchased the Nexus S and it had several dead pixels as soon as I booted the phone on...back it went and the next one was fine until it developed a new problem some time latter, just got it back today after a SIX month battle with Samsung. Pleased to say I won the battle.

Let us know how you get on.:good:

Regards.
