If there isn't some circulating already, I couldn't be bothered playing with configs. I might wait a few months and check back. Usually GCam isn't a whole lot better than any standard Camera app, unless the phone allows full API usage (which I know Vivo does). Usually the best you can do with GCam is slight increase to sharpness and maybe add a little bit of grain. In most cases it's nothing better that can be shown unless you want to crop at 500% zoom or something.

I can see the upscaling photos you provided look good but I couldn't be bothered playing around with the app. Wasted enough time doing that a few years ago and didn't get much of a better improvement with an older phone that had full API access.

Yes you can change the upscaling factor because it's basically the same algorithm that is used for the zoom by all of these phones (plus some AI stuff like fake text and fake moons etc. but that's a different topic).

It's not bull****, it's just maths.
Basically every 50MP image from a quad-bayer sensor is fake, because the bayer pattern is only 12.5MP. If you want to get 50Mp images from that you either apply some adjusted demosaicing algorithm (which is what the stock camera high resolution mode does) or you upscale the RAW data during the stacking/denoising/demosaicing process (which is what Google does). In both cases you get true resolution that is more than 12.5MP (but still less than 50MP).

It only works well with 2x upscaling because it depends on the sub pixel alignment so only 2x actually takes full advantage of the quad bayer pattern.

But it's not fake and it's not bull****. It's also not true 50MP but it definitely increases the amount of detail, and very often it does so even better than the high resolution demosaicing algorithm of the stock camera.
Believe what you want but it's not true. You even mix some new full res zoom things with old upscaling codes from 2017.

I have told you, even the gcam mod dev of AGC told that it won't affect the quality at all and you wanna say you have more experience than him and you want to say he isn't right even when he added these codes and build that mod himself!? That's hilarious.

Why you just don't accept the fact it's a bug with AGC which isn't the only one. You can't reproduce that "quality gain" with any other mod. Explains what? Something is wrong with AGC when "upscaling" is disabled. BigKaka couldn't answer me what's wrong but he also doesn't care since he is working on his new based builds.

But nevermind I'm gonna stop this discussion now. Be happy with what you have and believe whatever you want. I won't reply to this anymore.

Because it's not a bug with AGC. 12MP AGC images are just as detailed as 12MP stock camera pictures. There is no difference. It's not a bug. And big kaka doesn't know what the code he's using actually does.

Look at the page from Google I linked, it explains everything.

I don't need to believe anything because I am a dev myself and I know what the GCam devs did and I have eyes which can clearly see the detail that does not exist in the 12MP images.

And no one else needs to believe me, because you can simply install GCam and use your own eyes to get the proof ;)

BTW - I tried the gcam not freeheld but on a tripod - and it fared much worse in zoom - pretty identical to stock camera. So the main advantage HDR+ is clear - google camera (sabre I suppose) really works and stock camera has no equivalent. And it's pretty stunning to me that google's claim about this mechanism at 60x zoom actually performs with the biggest visual difference.

At 0.6-5x the differences in sharpness are minor - however I find the huge difference is that the gcam pictures look sharp on both my phone screen and one desktop - while the stock camera kinda only manages either or. The sharpening in general of gcam is clearly superior to stock camera. Details are sometimes a bit better - with my config I feel I get much more realistic pictures not that fake HDR with the vivo camera produces at night. What I hate about stock is that it lightens up the contrast everywhere - while gcam mainly does it in the center of the image which gives more interesting pictures. But then there is color of course and gcam is sometimes okay, sometimes not at all - more often than the stock camera failing in color. And yeah it's always about wrong white balance. E.g. sunsets are very problematic (have to edit every pic afterwards).

Stock camera has an alternative to Sabre but it's not as mathematically sophisticated and more AI based ;)
Every phone these days uses some combination of AI and multi-frame stacking to achieve super-resolution zoom (and noise reduction). Personally, I think AI upscaling is BS, because it doesn't produce any real detail. Multi-frame super-resolution / joint demosaicing like Sabre produces real detail. With all manufacturers now using quad-bayer sensors, they should really focus on improving the demosaicing process, that's the best way to get as much real resolution as possible (not fake AI hallucinated details).

Hey, guys. Coming back to my pictures, which were a little bit oversharpened. I've made another ones. Take a look. You wanna say that you see any noice or oversharpening?)) (sharpness is set by default). And, by the way, upscaling was enabled. And this has a positive effect on detail. Not drastically, but still.

Looks like x90 pro plus stock.

Guys, does gcam improve picture quality in X90PP? If yes, could you please share some photos taken with gcam?

I went to Portugal and my Vivo didn't let me down once.

It's easily my most loved phone to date and all my friends and family have nothing but compliments about the photos taken - some even thought I took these on a DSLR.

Yes, it'll be a bit saturated for some people but if it's being uploaded on social media on top of getting automatically compressed anyway, it's not like you're going to be able to pixel peep or blow up it at full size on a 8k screen in your pocket.

    Enjoy!

The X6 Pro night mode is a bit darker and more natural. vivo and oppo are in the same company, so maybe they will update if they think it's important.
no need for that, Stock Camera > Settings > Enable Effects Master
swipe down until -20 and done. In settings can also also make that to be saved and launches everytime with -20 exposure.
If you swipe left and right it will adjust saturation also.

    Inspired by the above!

Unedited handheld auto night mode for 3-4 seconds at 1am in my back garden with only my neighbour's top floor room's rear window shining a tiny bit of light from the distance - it was pitch black and you could not see anything

My eyes couldn't even see those plastic chairs let alone what he's got on the grass
