I too do not play games on a phone. But it actually is a concern, I would say, when the inferority of the SoC reflects in camera image processing, modem, batterylife, heat management etc.
When a device is sold with the same naming as one device where both perform differently and one behaves like having a yesteryear SoC of its Snpadragon counterpart, it does raise eyebrows.
The exynos is no slouch, but undoubtedly a new CPU architecture is required as the addressing of this issue is long overdue(started with S9).
