How Letv can call it a stable release, when it has this many logcat errors in first boot, is beyond my understanding. But I'm putting together a debloated 08S version right now. Uploading in a few minutes..

Is there a changelog? Maybe at least they fixed the freaking sim card problem, and I wont be left with a 300 dollar tablet.

Not sure if Letv provide any change logs actually. But I can see that they have done some work on the SIM Toolkit, so this may be good news for SIM issues. 08S version added to OP now - it gave me some errors on first boot, but seems OK. Let's try it out and see...

EDIT: LOL I may have to add the Letv Cloud packages back in for this one. It goes completely haywires if you click "LeCloud" in Settings! So don't do it ;)

When I boot into your recovery I get "TWRP has detected an unmodified system partition"

Shoults I sweipe to allow modofications or just back and flash the 6s?

EDIT: Also it has a big button saying Keep Read Only above the swipe thingy

There are of course change logs, however I can't make heads or tails of it, even after Google Translate... :)
Edit: There's a freakin' long list of changes....

From TWRP site, "Since not all OEMs and devices have factory images available, we have created a new feature in TWRP that detects if the system partition has ever been mounted read/write. If not, you will be prompted asking if you want TWRP to mount system as read/write. If you choose not to allow TWRP to mount as read/write, TWRP won’t prompt to install SuperSU and TWRP won’t try to patch the stock ROM to prevent TWRP from being replaced by stock recovery. The goal of this option is to hopefully allow the user to make a raw system image backup that they can use to get back to a state where they can take OTA updates again".

Hi Mr Rusch.
Great work getting 8S out...I was planning on loading it up to see if it resolves the GPS issues...but are you saying we should wait for a v1.1 fro you to fix the LeCloud thing? Or are you saying to simply not click that option and all is fine (I never click it anyway :) )

OK, I rebooted to TWRP and formatted Cache, Dalvik Cache and System and then installed 8S and SuperSU.
Back in the OS and all seems grand.
Strangely my nice moving bubbles wallpaper is gone but no big deal.
I see the Battery Saver modes are now in English when in 7S they were in Chinese so that's a plus.

GPS is still broken tho for me. I edited the gps.conf as it was set to the Test one and I set to the Europe one...rebooted but same as before, I can see lots of satellites but it won't lock :(

How is nexus ROM coming along? Any progress?
Lots to do at work currently, so progress is slow.

This is a component I usually remove. But previously, tapping it anyway wouldnt do anything. Now, it goes crazy, so dont click it ;)

Well, I never tried your 6S so I cannot say. It did indeed work in my 6S from Oppomart (what we can call the LeTV 'International ROM'...or colloquially as a 'pile of steaming...') :D

I can do a TWRP backup of my current setup and try 6S if you like?
Would I simply 'dirty flash' 6S over my 8S? A full wipe and load will take longer as then I'd have to go thru' the phone setup and install the apps and whatnot.

wheres the all stock wallpapers gone in 8s rom
I'm guessing rusch removed it as part of his debloating project. Without telling us or giving a list of what's removed it's like finding a needle in the haystack.

I tried a dirty flash and upon booting it wouldn't go past the eui loading screen even after 15 minutes. A clean flash worked but gps still didn't.

What I did notice is that sometimes it works. So well that it gets a lock in 6 seconds (6 of 32 sats). But it has so far only happened in 3 or 4 locations (places I don't usually go to). Most of the time it just doesn't want to despite seeing 36 sats. I had a business trip this week and tried gps too - 1,167km away and still the same experience.

I'm guessing an unintentional removal of some component essential to allowing the phone get permission for location access could be the problem.

@wallpapers - Nothing more removed this time around. Please check if they are there in STOCK 08S, otherwise Letv has removed them in the build.
@gps - You tried this with the STOCK 06S or my debloated 06S? Guess I will have to dig deeper into this.
