Hi everyone. I'm in really need of your help. I have the F500K model, flashed with the F500L tot file which i was able to convert to the H815 model and flashed the Genesysis Rom 2.2.1. Everything went great for 2 months. But right now, my phone is simply dead. :crying:

When powering the device, display lights up but does not show the LG Logo. It's simply a black screen and does not proceed with the bootup. However, I can still enter download mode. Tried using LG Bridge but after reaching around 70% it says

Your phone cannot update.
Click [Cancel] to close or click [Update error recovery] to try again.

I also tried using LGUP and flash all tot/kdz files that could possibly work but LGUP only reaches 4% and prompts: "Invalid TOT/KDZ file". I'm from the Philippines by the way. Can someone help me, please? I would really aprreciate it. :)
Hi lavarice00. Did you manage to fix your phone? If yes, could you please guide me through? I have an exact same problem and can't seem to find solution anywhere:(:(

Tried this procedure with my F500L that I have just converted back to stock thru LGUP. Now my unit is completely blank—no logo, no nothing. Curiously I hear sound that seems to indicate the unit is running the ROM, except there is no display, I have only blank screen.

What Happened:
Tried to follow all the steps, except that I can't seem to put the unit to proper download mode from the start. I somehow managed to run the download (CSE mode) then the flash tool was terminated by Windows (7, 64-bit) for so-called runtime error, although I have installed the runtime files at the start and the process stated 100% complete.

Also tried to go back to stock F500L thru LGUP, but it's not working anymore. Why is that? I tried looking for a tot file to replace 815kdz, which I discovered is not available.

Anybody have an idea what happened? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this. forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/howto-flash-models-tot-file-avoid-tot-t3282938
But rename xVLG to 818 not 815

What I did: changed the string "F500L" with "H815C" once at the same exact location shown by the image at the link, saved, and tried the LGUP using the new revised tot file. Didn't work.

Was I supposed to change every instance of "F500L" or something else?

TIA.

Replace "F500L" with "H818" not "H815C" only once.
I'm sorry, but wouldn't "H818" have trouble with the current nonworking ROM in my handset, which is H815C? LGUP registers it as such, "H815".....

Also, I have no WinHex, so I tried another hex editing program. Would this matter? I'm thinking of getting a working WinHex today.

Thanks!

I'm not sure about using another hex editing program but I dont think its a problem. I also had H815 rom and LGUP registered it as H815 as well. I tried to replace "F500L" with "H815" in the tot file but LGUP couldn't flash it, gave the invalid tot file error. But when i replaced "F500L" with "H818" it worked. Can't really explained what happened but trust me it works.

Wow, as simple as that? Will try this again later today. Thanks a mountain, man! Hope this works! If it does I'll try my hand again at flashing that H815 after I reformatted my PC, which has been a pain in the **&%$ lately with all things android. At least I have this to fall back to if that fails again. :)

I wouldn't advise on flashing H815. If it fails PM me.

Will do. After office today.

Is it no longer advisable to flash H815? It's just that my unit still suffers from occasional bootloop using the stockrom and I want to be done with those Korean apps.

Again, thank you very much!

Update: I tried it again last night, still no go. But: I didn't mention that the MTP is not properly installed in my PC—does that matter? I was thinking it was all USB connection, and since that was properly installed, the MTP is of no concern. Am I wrong assuming that?

MTP is not really important. What we need it is to be able to get in download mode. Did you put it in download mode and tried flashing using LGUP? Did you use winhex to replace F500L with H818? What error message(s) are you getting?

Okay at least this confirms my belief that MTP should not matter, esp. since the phone is dead anyway for the connection selection to be available.

I used both LGUP first and this Flashtool 1.8 xxx that uses tot files. Both failed. LGUP gives the same "Invalid tot file error" message, while Flashtool merely indicates in red (at third step) something like Download Failure.

I tried using WinHex but it gives a weird error message when saving, so I went back to that other hex editor (will give more detail at home, can't remember the specifics right now).

Tried the kdz flasher one last time before calling it a night, using a stock kdz I've gotten hold of, still no luck.

I am thinking of reformatting my PC today or my laptop to see if my quirky old installations are the culprits. :)

UPDATE: Well today my F500L has finally decided to give up the ghost after a long bout with failed conversion and failed attempt to bring it back to stock ROM. Should I hand it the RIP rites now?

STATUS: Won't power up no matter what I do: tried removing battery, sim card, memory card and pressing power button for 60 seconds as indicated here. Tried volume down or up combo with power button, still to no avail. Then connected to main power thru charger, as well as connect thru USB to my PC.
