Hello, i send my phone (unlocked) last Monday (4th Jan.) to LG-Repair and received it today, ... locked :).
He swap the board. The IMEI and S/N is the same and the HW Version is still 1.0.

Where can i find what for version is the new board?

I have a G4 H815 locked with serial number starting with 505  and stock MM with software version V20c-EUR-xx. I have backed up all my important data and I am ready for it to die lol, I hope it doesn't die though xD but it is very likely after reading all the posts here that it will die.

it's not LOL at all.... :(

but i don't know if it's a full general problem (it's sure that the must phone die ! ) or if it's some small % of phones (like some Samsung known for this umpredictable "sudden death")
==> because on the internet we generaly only see peoples with problems who express....but we don't know at all how many lg g4 h815 (505... and more) is used on the world and how many work correctly ...
we don't know the importance of this bootloop problem....

For example :
i have a car ! on forum and others thetre are feedbacks about problems....but i own this car and never have had all that i can found about these problems...

I can't do anything other than lol cause if it dies I am f***ed and I will need to purchase a new phone. I can't send it for warranties as there are no official LG center in my country and I think this was imported from Europe.

Yeah I know, we don't know the how many percentage of the devices starting with serial 505 are dead or how many are still working perfectly.

I went to the shop I bought it in and asked the vendor to send it in, since I bought it there 7 month ago. ;)

#Edit I bought it at Saturn, you might know that Company in germany. Sorry I couldn't help

No problem, thanks for your reply.
I bought it here in the Netherlands at a T-Mobile shop so I will return it there and ask them to send it to LG.

Don't know which repair centre they use, hope it isn't dynafix where they notice it's unlocked and return it because they say they are unable to repair it and you have to pay € 55,00 to get it back.

My phone is 505, v1.1 and sadly May edition? Model is H815t Hong kong? is my phone in line to die? should i sale it as its working now? or i can keep it hoping it may keep on working?

Seriously??? What are you still doing here? Go sell it quickly before it turns into a paperweight. And buy a later version from someone else :)

Unless you live in Hong Kong and have access to warranty support, you should get rid of it as fast as possible.

Has anyone reached out to LG Hong Kong regarding their phone? I emailed them twice...The first time they closed my ticket with no notes.

The second email to them has been unresponded to since 12/31.

Think I'm just going to offload my dead G4 on eBay and that'll be that.

Same thing with me. LG Hong Kong didn't even respond to my ticket from two weeks ago.

But maybe was your phone not booting at all? And so it have hidden the "bootloader unlocked" text? Just to know.

Anyway in Europe unlocked phone should still get warranty services.

On 10 attempts, opened two times and after a while it was closed again, but it seemed the "Bootloader Unlocked" text. Maybe I was lucky and did not open by the technical

Well, turns out after having my phone for a month that LGUK have decided that they aren't going to fix it and don't care that there hardware was shot. Updating post #14

Bowing out, better luck to anyone else.

Moral of the story - don't buy LG hardware as there quality control is ****e

Did they not at least quote you an out-of-warranty repair fee??

You obviously have not read this thread through. This problem happens regardless of whether you root or not. It has nothing to do with rooting or unlocking or flashing. The only common feature to almost everyone in this thread is that their serial number starts with 505. It will happen to you too.

Are you in Hong Kong? If so, just claim that it is bootlooping and bring it back for service. They will change the motherboard automatically.

If you don't live in Hong Kong, you need to get rid of your phone while it is still working! Because when it crashes it will have zero value. Just sell it for $350 and buy a local version for $375 which has a later serial number. If I were you, I'd dump it as fast as possible before word gets out.

Said that they tested for water damaged, found out it was rooted and refused to do anything else.

Thing is, it wasn't rooted, only bootloader unlocked (when it was sent in after attempted fixes). I assume they don't know the difference.

Hello mate, reading your accounts made me really upset.

I'm in the same boat, I've just called LG support (here in the UK), and the guy over the phone confirmed that they've 'replaced the motherboard' and I'm waiting on DPD to bring it back to me.

My phone was unlocked, rooted, (not on MM), so, don't give up. This is all assuming what I was told on the phone is true, I did have to press him to offer up what exactly they had done and he confirmed the motherboard switch.

Edit: Maybe where the phone was sent made a difference? Mine was at 'Center Name' LGEUN LGC TONGWELL, 'Address' Velocity 2, Brooklands, Weybridge, KT13 0SL

For everyone having the bootloop issue, I saw this in another thread:
...
Using DL mode (device off -> press and hold volume up while(!) connecting to PC) and LGUP you should be able to push any KDZ on your device and get out of the boot loop.
...

I don't have the bootloop problem so I can't test it but it might help someone.

Most of us cannot use this trick: flashing fails at 9%
Some of us made it work, though...

LG G4 (511) here. Been searching all over the net and it seems there is no permanent fix to this issue. Would have been fun to play around with this (supposedly) very capable phone.

Rest in peace LG smartphone department.

    IT WORKS!!!!

First I want to thank Oile and all the other members of this forum and cutol under this link
    https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg4/comments/45gfg2/dae_g4_series_msm_big_core_disable_tool_guide/

I do believe that the OP should change this post because this is a LEGITAMATE solution to fixing the bootloop error. My phone is considerably slower but I was able to recover all of my data and information and it is still functional. and it DOES NOT require baking or freezing your phone

I wont be as detailed as they are in the link but I will just try to explain what I did and how it worked for me.

According to the reddit link, The actual problem is within some of the cores so disabling them will get the phone to start working again while at the same time slowing down your phone.
My phone however an LG Trial version but it may still work with yours as well. (LGH-815)

    Models this method works for:

    H812
    H815
    H815K
    H815TR
    h818
    H818N
    H818P
    H819
    V32

    Camera Works
    Music Works
    Videos work
    Apps work!

    Everything is just slower

Here are the steps that I took to RESTORE ALL OF MY DATA and regain moderate usage of my device

The first thing I did was download the LG bridge tool on my computer to make sure I had all the drivers to connect my computer to my phone
The next thing I did was go into the reddit blog and download the file they have posted there
I extracted it and first went over the detailed powerpoint on how to restore the phone
I put my phone in download mode by holding the volume up button then plugging the usb cord (That was already inserted into my computer) into my phone and continued holding up until the new screen appeared
I then released the up button and began the process that was directed on the powerpoint
I selected my phones .tot file then clicked start. it took about 5 minutes
The long part was the optimizing apps part this process took at least 45 minutes so you have to make sure your phone is FULLY charged.
After it completed optimizing the apps the phone started as if it hadn't been a brick for the last 3 months :good:
Now when using your phone try not to open super big files if you can just insert a storage card or transfer your files via usb cable

again THIS WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No OVEN NO FREEZER (although I did try the freezer :( it didn't work ) STOP COOKING YOUR PHONES!!

    Hi XDA,
This morning I was just browsing Reddit when my phone suddenly shut down. When I tried to restart it I found that it was stuck in a bootloop.
I can only seem to get into download mode. Hard reset just doesn't seem to be working. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, maybe it's broken, I'm not sure. I was running the low effort root, and hadn't modified anything recently. Using the 2014 flash tool just gives me a "Connection to server failed. Try again in a moment" error.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix it?

    Edit:
THE ONLY KNOWN FIX IS TO RMA AND THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A WAY TO RECOVER YOUR DATA

For some more information, the issue appears to be purely hardware based, and based on this thread seems to have primarily occured in the last months. Our phones randomly died during regular usage, then most users reported that rebooting it showed the "optimizing apps" thing (I personally did not see this) and then it rebooted again and went into a bootloop. Reinstalling the software often succeeds but doesn't actually fix anything, as your phone will just start looping again (still worth a try though, maybe you have some other unfortunate issue?). I myself and multiple users have tried the following things (text stolen from @dentralp because he wrote it up in such a good way):

    Attempted Fixes:

    1) Tried using LG bridge

-it says its updating to marshmallow (succeeds)
-then sits at LG boot screen without looping

    2) Flashtool 2014 - Europe OPEN H81510D.kdz

-said that it couldn't connect to server
    -clicked ok
    -clicked retry
    -says S/W update in progress
    -stopped due to an error
-This is on my main PC, had issues with Flashtool before, will check on my laptop and feed back
    -Fails on 9%

    3) LGUP

-Only see's my device when I enter download mode
-Says my device is unknown so won't do anything with it
    -Restarted Computer
-Wants a .tot not .kdz, contrary to the guide posted - out my depth, whats the difference between a kdz and a tot?
    -Click on upgrade
    -Chose Europe OPEN H81510D.kdz
    -Close and reopen LGUP
-Making sure Refurbish is chosen (kdz should still be active file)
    -Click Start
    -80% Reboots, Reboots, reboots, reboots...
-100% "Click here to continue" on computer
    -Reboot
    -Bootloop

    4) Longshot

-now I assume that I'm back on lp, moving back to step 2 Flashtool 2014
    -Connection to server failed
    -ignored
    -seconds later it starts flashing
    -Bootloop

    5) LGUP

-Same as 3 above, but with MM H81520a_00.kdz
    -Complete
    -Bootloop
-repeated to go back to Europe OPEN H81510D.kdz

    edit 26-1-2016
LG finally recognized the issue. They state that the problem is a loose connector. Article here: http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/

As far as I can tell, the issue is not restricted to certain phones, but primarily phones with serial 505xxxxxxxxxxx appear to be victim to this.

UPDATE: PEOPLE ARE CLAIMING THERE IS A WAY TO SAVE YOUR DATA

People are claiming that you can save your phone and recover your data by disabling the Big core. This means disabling everything that makes your phone fast. It may be a good way to recover your data if it's critical, but I would not recommend it as a real permanent fix, since it does make your phone a lot slower (a phone has 4 little cores and 4 big cores, the little ones are very energy efficient but slow, and the big cores are fast but not efficient). I don't have a clue whether this voids your warranty or not, and I've not seen many people confirm that it's working either, but it's worth a try! More information on the comment by gabriel713281 here and in the reddit thread here.

Hi guys, I've developed a new app to re-enable all the working cores. It's a permanent fix.

    RMA update

The message i received today from the LG authorized service belonging to the shop where i bought my G4 from:

"This is to inform you that your phone with serial 506KPYR395XXX is not subject to repair and as such has been replaced under warranty with a new one with serial 510KPED732XXX as instructed by LG Romania. Thank you for your patience." ( I replaced last 3 digits of serial with XXX )

I've sent the phone to the shop where i bought it from on January 5, and today January 12 i have received the service file with the above resolution. Tomorrow i should go to the shop and pick up the new phone.
I was in doubt if they would change it since the original shop answer was that they will repair it, so i called LG after dropping the phone at service, and been talking with them and gave them the serial number and last 6 digits of IMEI as they asked in order to track the phone when the shop service would ask for replacements. I have received confirmation from LG that series from May, June, July and August are afflicted by this issue and that the revision number doesn't matter. They also said that it is not necessary that all phones in these series will fail, but that under certain circumstances (not disclosed to me) they will start producing the bootloop issue which is h/w bound. I'm not trying to panic anyone of you, and i'm not asking you to take me for granted. It's just what i have been told by LG.
