LG G4 stuck on Android is starting

Every time I reboot my LG G4 I get the Android is starting. Optimizing app 1 of 1... and takes about 15 minutes to finish each time.
I've tried booting into recovery mode to wipe the partition cache, but the phone won't seem to boot into recovery mode by Holding the Power button and volume down buttons on boot. It ignores it.
Tried deleting the cached Data from the Internal Storage settings.
I've also tried using the adb reboot bootloader command but it just reboots as usual with the only difference is that it displays a message saying: "Select enable OEM in the settings". I enabled the OEM and went into fastboot, but get the following:
>fastboot erase cache
******** Did you mean to fastboot format this ext4 partition?
erasing 'cache'...
FAILED (remote: not supported in locked device)

I have never rooted this phone and really don't want to flash it.

My damn LG G4 has been doing the same thing for the last month. I even FDR'ed it a week ago or so; this initially seemed to fix the issue but now it is doing it again. So ****ing annoying.

In order to get to the system recovery mode, hold down the power and volume down button until the LG logo appears, then release the buttons for 1 second and then press and hold them down again. Continue holding them down until the recovery mode screen shows up. On my phone, I had to wait for it to cycle through the LG logo screen twice, but after the second time the LG logo screen appeared, it went to recovery mode. Hope this helps.

Problem resolved

I've had the same problem optimizing app 1 of 1 Android is starting. Happens every time I reboot or change the battery in my LG G4. Has been going on for a couple months then suddenly this morning it stopped. This was after about a half a dozen apps updated on the Play Store. I will add a screenshot but I suspect it was the YouMail app or possibly Google. I had tried uninstalling you mail but the problem persisted. I was told by an AT&T Advanced Tech that I needed my firmware flashed but AT&T can't do it and BestBuy can't do it and I have no idea where I can get it flashed. If it happens again I'm going to try flashing myself on my PC. Good luck.

Thank you for that tip. I've been having this annoying issue for a week. Just uninstalled and the problem problem has gone. I was gradually uninstalling apps to see which one was causing it but would have taken a month to get to Zedge.
Grateful thanks

Solution

I had the same problem. For me Osmand and Deezer caused it.
Here is the method to figure out which app(s) the guilty:
Because I am a new user on xda, I'm not allowed to post URL, but Google for it. The first hit is reddit with the solution! :)

Can you walk me through exactly what you did? I'm having the same issue and I'm about to throw this phone through a wall. I'm by no means a phone tech.

Resolution du problème de demarrage de LG G4 : Optimizing app 1 of 1...

Sorry i am not well in english. So i reply you in french
