Back in the fall of 2015 I bought a H815 LG G4 for my son. Within a few weeks it started to bootloop. Not knowing what was going on he continued to try using it until January 2016 when it finally died. Since it was not a US version LG US refused to fix it under warranty. My son bought another G4, a US991 this time.
I managed to get the H815 to Taiwan, LG there fixed it under warranty and I kept it for myself.
Both phones had been working fine until mid November this year when the US991 decided to die. I figured that was the end of that phone since the one year warranty was well and truly over but I decided what the heck, I called LG US.
I told the very polite lady that answered the phone that my almost 3 year old phone is doing nothing but show a screen that says “LG Life is Good”. She had me try a few things and then asked me for the IMEI #. She told me it was under warranty, send me a FexEx label and I send it to them.
They returned the phone the same day they received it. From what I can tell they replaced the motherboard. The phone has been working fine for a week now.
I am not happy that LG sold phones that quite clearly had issues or with the fact that we never got the android updates they promised, but I am impressed that they fixed an item that has been out of warranty fast and totally free.

Yeah they are really trying to repair their image. Unfortunately their fix isn't a real fix and just a replacement. It will likely do the same thing. Also they just made the phones substantially less powerful by disabling the cores...

In all it ruined my experience with LG as I had 2 other LG phones that had similar issues... Now I'm using an Essential PH-1 (on sale they are a great deal) and was looking at the one plus 6t or pixel 2 of 3 on sale as well as alternatives.
