I am thinking of buying the G4, looks like the OP steps to root are still working, could someone please confirm for me?

Thank you in advance.

If you are on 11A stock (non rooted), just take the OTA update and you will be on 13B. Then you can use that rootedsystem image to root your phone following all the directions on step 3 from the thread I linked earlier.

i am rooted thats y i asked if i can just KDZ the file then go to that post to get root for the 13b

I know the safe way would be to unroot your 11A, then take OTA update. Then flash 13b image. I'm not sure how the OTA upgrade works vs using the 13b KDZ. If the KDZ also updates the kernel/bootloader or not like the OTA update. I would play it safe and just unroot 11A, take OTA update and then flash the 13B rooted image.

So how would I flash the pre root 13 b if I don't have TWRP recovery what method do I used to flash the pre rooted B13? I read about ppl having problems with the proximity sensor cause of the glass screen covering up the sensor or what not but figure if the update would work this solutions...

Procedure all depends on what software version you are on and if you are rooted or not. So, what software version are you on and are you rooted? :)

If you are on 11A stock, you can just do OTA update to 13b and then flash 13b rooted image.
If you are on 11A and rooted, you need to KDZ back to 11A stock, then take OTA update to 13b. Then flash 13b rooted image.
If you are on 13b stock, its real simple, just flash 13b rooted image and presto!

Check this thread for complete instructions on what to do depending on what you need to do.

I'm on 11A stock rooted. I got the OTA 13B I had freeze it just in case if it borked anything by updating it self. Im going to unfreeze the sofware update. So what I have to do is KDZ to unroot back to stock 11A then take the OTA 13B then flash the root img. Making sure I read this right.

You got all the steps correct.
1. KDZ to 11A (can do click on the normal button when you do if you want to keep your files, but I would still back stuff up just incase)
2. Take OTA update. Might take a few hours to become available.
3. Lastly, follow all the directions in step 3 of the thread I linked.

Thread on KDZ directions. It is VERY important to KDZ the right verion. If you are on 11A, do 11A. Also, LG drivers are different if you are on Verizon, so there is that. But the instructions pretty much cover everything :)

Post 1 and 8 are the same file. Once you download, yup, extract the file. Then check the MD5 sum to make sure its all there if you want (Recommended). Then place that file on your phones internal storage. Straight in the root storage directory, not in any folders.

Once you have taken OTA update and are on stock 13b, just follow ALL Directions on Step 3 from the link below and you should be good to go with a rooted 13b phone. You should also already have the the right LG Drivers (Verizon is the only phone that uses different ones) installed and LG_Root downloaded and extracted.

Is there a pre-rooted kdz 13b method for root? Im wondering if I can just use the LG UP tool to inject a rooted kdz onto my phone?
