Root has been achieved by using "LGTool by beaups and jcase", but they have done a service to the community, and held it back from release until it is actually ready for use by the public and power users alike. Any person or team who delivers such a tool first, that allows us all to root and/or flash a custom recovery, will be awarded the bounty as a thank you from the community.

Bounty Details​

Hello everyone! I'm restarting this thread to keep track of the bounty for rooting the G5. I've seen a few posts pop up about paying whoever roots it first, so if you are interested in donating money to the first person to successfully root the G5 please post your amount and I'll (now @kchannel9) add it all up and keep the total amount updated.

Greatly looking forward to anyone interested in becoming a candidate in this challenge to find a means for root.

REQUIREMENTS​

1. Be the first person to create or find a method to achieve the following:
Exploiting a fully stock build of any US carrier to gain root access
2. Make a post in this thread with the following:
Proving it works with appropriate photos and/or screenshots
Providing full step-by-step instructions for which anyone else can follow
3. Wait for at least one member to follow the same method and confirm it works the same on their fully stock device
4. Claim your bounty via PM from pledger(s)

Payment will be processed between each member and the bounty collector via PM on an individual basis.

I would like to apologize to @jcase and @beaups for the irresponsible way I handled them releasing their tool that they removed. I was completely out of line with the way I handled it, sorry guys. I said some real bad things that I did not mean to say, and I'm not asking for you to forgive me but do not punish the rest of the G5 users because I made a mistake.

As far as I'm aware, the only differences are what you mentioned and no carrier branding and who knows, maybe LG will release a bootloader unlocking tool in the future!
