I'll never buy that. It's got the stupid Apple unibrow! D: Hopefully it is what they were working on and scrapped.
I agree. Looks totally retarded kn the iPhone X and it looks just as retarded on that ohone also.I'll never buy that.
But one article said some Chinese budget OEMs were not only doing the notch to copy Apple, but making it BIGGER than "necessary" (it's never necessary) as actually style statement. Argghhhhhh.A LOT of major Android devices will get the notch this year. If you remember, Google added support for the notch recently.
So manufacturers sre going to do it.
If OnePlus 6T has it, I guess I'm getting a notch too.
Remember, Android had it first.
I hated it on the Essential also.A LOT of major Android devices will get the notch this year. If you remember, Google added support for the notch recently.

I did find this:You should have been expecting the clones to come out. iPhone X was a huge disappointment for sales. Apple is discontinuing it in June and reduced their order which made Samsung hold the bag on millions of glass. Samsung is not going to throw them away but they were already shopping around for buyers at a reduced rate. Why not spend the same amount of money on a good piece of glass. And just deal with the notch as a designer. When you are selling a mid-tier phone having a nice glass is a bonus. And honestly LG is a mid-tier company that puts out high-end devices.
So, the "notch" will be in area not really being used. It won't impact videos, etc. That space will be used for notification bar.The display measures in at 6-inches with a resolution of 3120 x 1440. As Android Police points out, that’s a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, different from the G6 and V30 which both have 18:9 aspect ratios. The closest comparison would the Essential Phone’s 19:10 aspect ratio.
In short, it’s slightly taller, and that actually makes room for a notch which has been added to the display (because of course).
Interestingly, LG hides the notch in software, creating its own version of the notification bar that is somewhat reminiscent of the second-screen on the LG V20.
Be interesting to see it next to the iPhone X. To me that sounds like they adapted their software to work with the notch having bought lots of glass on the cheap. Which I have to say was a pretty good way of doing it. I don't got time to research actual size dimensions todayThat doesn't make me like the notch, but it's not just putting a notch to put a notch.
Apple put a notch there just to put a notch there.Be interesting to see it next to the iPhone X. I don't think anyone would put a notch to put a notch. Apple did it because their sheep won't say anything negative about the design. Just how awesome the feature is. At least LG was smarter and used space better
Essential's notch cut the expected QHD 1440p to 1325p, so Essential ALSO put a notch there just to put a notch there. It's not necessary.that (iPhone X) notch that takes a chunk out of the screen when viewing videos; there are plenty of important apps still not optimized around the notch (like Gmail) and they look terrible
That’s right: the notch is now a selling point. Kane’s supposed phone, the Leagoo S9 Pro, is just one of a tide of iPhone X clones that have swept through Mobile World Congress this week, often from little-known Chinese manufacturers competing to get products out as fast as possible. Oukitel. Doogee. Blackview. UleFone. OtOt. Ila. The list goes on — and it’s starting to include names more familiar to Western audiences. Asus’ new Zenfone 5 takes obvious notch inspiration from Apple’s latest phone, while leaks suggest that Huawei’s next flagship will follow a similar path.
The simple truth is that these notches don’t need to exist. They’re a stylistic choice, and the latest example of Apple design decisions being co-opted by much of the tech industry at large.
These Android phones, on the other hand, are often making the notch much bigger than it needs to be. They don’t contain advanced face-scanning tech — usually just a selfie camera, a speaker, and an ambient light sensor. The decision to go with prominent notches is one that simply would not have been taken were it not for the iPhone X.
Not everyone will follow, of course. Samsung, for example, has enough marketing clout of its own that copying Apple would do more harm than good at this point. This week’s Galaxy S9 launch event saw the company hail the new phone’s “uninterrupted display,” with a marketing executive cracking “as always, you know, there’s no notch.”
Apple is "discontinuing" -- on paper only -- the original iPhone X to release "improved" version (same size) iPhone X, as well as a larger size iPhone X Plus. You should have been expecting the clones to come out. iPhone X was a huge disappointment for sales. Apple is discontinuing it in June and reduced their order which made Samsung hold the bag on millions of glass.
Part of Apple's problem with the iPhone X is the size. The 5.8" iPhone X with minimal bezels is "too small" for the Chinese market. They love BIG phones for some reason. So, Apple is releasing iPhone X Plus and a 6.1" cheaper phone. The "revised" iPhone X will remain the same size. (LG V30 has bigger OLED display than the iPhone X.)*the outgoing iPhone X will be replaced by a total of three new iPhone X-inspired designs:
Apple hopes it will be the latter two that once again excite the Chinese market.
- a second generation 5.8-inch iPhone X,
- 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and
- a “$650-750” 6.1-inch iPhone SE replacement which will be fitted with Face ID.
industry insiders have revealed Apple is working with LG Innotek to Significantly reduce the size of the so-called "notch" on the (2019) iPhone X. ET News states this will be done by combining the front-facing camera with Face ID, allowing the notch to be cut away (minimized).
Can you believe Asus copied the unibrow, and bragged that it was smaller than the iPhone X's? How dumb can you get, someone could just say they have 100% smaller notch by not having one at all!I agree. Looks totally retarded kn the iPhone X and it looks just as retarded on that ohone also.
Whoever thought that was an ok feature of a phone must be a moron.
