New user (Canada)... decided to share my experience.

Stumble across ebay deal for those LG G7 G710PM converted to ULM phone and couldn't resist.
Bought 4 for all family home and abroad. (100$ to 150$ depend on the wear) Best deal ever. I can't figure out what is the big deal and importance of OTA updates.
Since my son asked for Netflix one of the phones runs on Verizon Pie "G710VM20e_03_1205.kdz" now.
Smooth re-flash on LGUP Dualmode with "partition dll" select all and second re-flash with "refurbished" option.
GPay and Netflix works. GSM Signal normal. LTE data normal but only by manual APN setting. WiFi calling tried to register without success. Could not care less.
Second phone on Pie "G710ULM20e_00_NAO_US_OP_1010.kdz" no GPay and Netflix although SafetyNet looks better: request success but response failed. Don't know how to check if wifi call works.
The last two on original Oreo LM-G710ULM (V10b-LAO-COM)
I may actually keep original LM-G710ULM (V10b-LAO-COM) since the benchmark test on AnTuTu I have ran gives better performance 34000. The same test on G710ULM20e_00_NAO_US_OP_1010.kdz gives 32000 and on Verizon Pie "G710VM20e_03_1205.kdz" 30000.
If anyone have any Idea how to properly test the performance will gladly run new tests.

On LG website there is a newer firmware version (G710ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218.kdz) with with build date 02.04.2020, can i follow the same steps and use this instead? Has anyone already tested this?

=====UPDATE=====
So i tried to flash with the latest firmware and all went very smooth, i am now on 710ULM20f, the only issue is very poor data reception (-116dBm 24 asu) barely 1-2 bars and of course data speed is ridiculously slow on T-Mobile..
Does someone have any suggestions on how to improve it?
Should i return the phone to the eBay seller/scammer?

=====UPDATE=====
I did one last try with the Verizon G710VM20g (double flash, first DL Partition and got stuck on Verizon logo for about 5 min.. forced reboot and second flash with Refurbished option in LGUP) and with great pleasure the phone data speed and signal is back to normal and it even received an OTA update!! Firmware is bloated with VZ stuff but it is decent trade off compared with what i spent..

Hi. I also bought a G7ULM but I think it's a PM flashed. I am stuck on Oreo 8.0 with July Security Patch and 710ULM10f firmware.

Can I use this method to get manually update to Pie?
Any risk of Brick?

Thanks.

I am trying but say Missing .DLL and i dont know what else to do.

Wel I just follow this intruction, thank to @Jafet Guadamuz, Post #156, Pag. 16

1) Download the firmware ULM20e (update 2019-11-14) --HERE-- (ULM Firmware its the free unlocked version for USA, No bloatware at all)
2) Download the DUAL LGUP https://mega.nz/#!Jww2GIAa!efSwLp3vCl1ajANCutYGWn6qimypN5KMzW1xS3M0YSY **Link fixed**
3) uninstall any lg software (Very Important!!!)
4) Install the drivers lg https://mega.nz/#!FwxjiYQa!qZAFZNNNyFFuPrzDQp0C2KW_CmoQaaoY7hq-mFrvuAM
5) install LGUP, at the end they will choose setdev.bat usin Right click and "execute as an administrator" to create the DLL. (This step its very important, I was getting DLL missing error with the main post method, this work fine for me)
----Open LGUPD and do not close it.
----Now Turn Off the movil and put it in "Download Mode", Press Volme (+) and Conect it to PC via USB (LGUP should now "See" the Movil
6) On LGUP Flashing Screen, use the partition dll and select "Refurbished" and Select the .KDZ file that you al ready downloaded
7) Now it will start, it will restart the logo and give you the welcome screen. in my case, phone reboot normally Twice, after second reboot its ready to wizard configuration!!!!

Remember, i Bouth a Sprint Movil with ULM firmware and I was stuck with no Update on Android Oreo 8.0 FW 710ULM10f and July 2018 Security Patch, Now I am on Android Pie 9, Clean FW 710ULM20e with 1st October 2019 Security patch!!!!
Still no S/N and I dont know if Google Pay Works because I dont use it.
Thank you and I hope to help!!!!!

I want to thank you 3 guys for the information. I have a PM flashed to ULM from eBay, bought a few months ago. I was having a problem with low signal, so low in fact it took hours for my phone to activate on the Sprint network and SprintDM was constantly trying to update but never could. I tried the Verizon firmware but could not get LTE to work even with the correct APN settings. Last night I flashed to ULM20e linked above and instead of using REFURBISH I used the Partition DL and all of my problems have been solved. For the first time my signal is the same as my LG V40 on the same Sprint network and my phone activated immediately and SprintDM is finally updated and gone thank god.

I bought a sprint unlocked LG G7(LG710PM) which was converted to LM-G710ULM running Android Oreo from eBay for USD140. It is a brand new device. My main reason for buying this is to use it as a music player. Huawei P20 Pro is my primary device. I followed the OP post/directions with few tweaks and I was able to flash it with latest available Android 9 firmware with security update of Feb 2020. Currently using a data only SIM for streaming music. I have also stored a reasonable amount of FLAC files for offline listen. This is one heck of a media/music device for USD 140.

Update:
I am from Canada, currently using a Fido SIM with this device.
The device came with Android 8(G710ULM10g_00_NAO_US_OP_0913.kdz) and flashed to Android Pie (G710ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218.kdz).
I happen to search the firmware site and came across Android 10 for Canadian models (G710AWM30b_00_OPEN_CA_OP_0605.kdz).
Can I flash it in my device which is a sprint(LG710PM) converted to USA Unlocked(LM-G710ULM).
Has anyone done it? Any inputs appreciated?

I having gone through this thread and some others and came across many instances where dual flash is mentioned.
What they mean by that is : First flash using DL Partition and second flash with Refurbished option in LGUP.
Eg Quote : Smooth re-flash on LGUP Dualmode with "partition dll" select all and second re-flash with "refurbished" option.

I flashed a firmware but only did a refurbish as mentioned in most places. How is this double flash different or better? And what does it do? Or is it required in some cases?
My device was a G710PM converted to ULM and had Android Oreo when I bought. I flashed USA Unlocked Android 9 (GM-G710ULM) using refurbish option in LGUP.
Now, I am planning to flash it with Canada Unlocked Android 10(I am using fido SIM).
Should I just stick to refurbish flash or a partition dll flash required?
If required, how do I do it? Just select partition dll and start? and redo flash with refurbish selected?
Any help/inputs appreciated.

^^ Same here very curious after reading through everything. Bought a new unlocked G710VM on eBay for T-Mobile carrier and flashed G710ULM20f. Not bad so far after doing the apn settings. But when in LGUP, it only flashed when UPGRADE was checked in my case. Refurbished didn't work but didn't do Partion DL being unsure what to check and uncheck. Was totally scared. Lol. Weird. It's working though right now. Tomorrow going to try dual mode mentioned above maybe. Thanks for the great guide and time. Cheers.

Glad it worked for you with "Upgrade". Haven't come across anyone using "Upgrade" yet.
I have flashed once from OREO to PIE. I used "Refurbish". It was basically an update over same firmware (GM-G710ULM). I used "Refurbish" cuz almost all posts suggested it.
Now, I am planning to flash Canadian Android Q (G710AWM). I am not sure about what to select. "Refurbish" or "DLL Partition" or Both (meaning double flash) ?!?

If refurbish don't work or gives an error use dl option. Then do refurbish again because when your crossflashing with dl option sometimes the phone will ask you to enter a password when setting up phone.

Crossflashing again with refurbish gives you a cleaner flash and you do not get the enter password prompt.

I went ahead and flashed my device running USA unlocked Android 9 (G710ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218) with Canadian unlocked Android 10 (G710AWM30b_00_OPEN_CA_OP_0605).
I did a "partition dl". Flash went successfully. Yet to check how it works. Initial check seems positive. Happy to be running Canadian Android 10 with June 2020 security patch!

Update:
1) Signal in ULM pie firmware wasn't great here in Canada. Now even with Canadian firmware, there is no improvement in signal. However It so far haven't affected connectivity.
2) Volte is working.
3) Wifi Calling works.
4) Netflix works.
5) Google protect works.
6) Google Pay works!
7) S/N is still missing.
8) SmartWorld doesn't let log-in. No themes section in SmartWorld. ULM firmware had it.
9) Audio quality seems marginally better than ULM pie firmware. Could be my imagination too!
10) Battery is fine mostly. Battery was marginally better with Android 9. Not a deal-breaker though.

Thanks! It worked perfectly on one of my G7 710ULM. For a second I had an entry in S/N, but disappeared directly. German language is working.

Is an update possible with not lossing data and is it recommended?

As far as I know, update through OTA won't work. Needs to be done manually by flashing. However I don't see future updates for the device. It might get a security patch or two.

Hi,
I got that

Safety e-Report app preinstalled ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.go.safepeople&hl=en ). It has a bunch of permissions and a suspicious support Email "[email protected]" . I'm not pretty sure if that is an official korean government app for tracing covid-19 and other "safety issues" or if that ist scam or malware.

Does anybody know more about that app? Thank you!

I wouldn't know.. I have installed Canadian firmware. If you have installed Korean one, may be it is a COVID19 related app or something like that. I won't be too concerned. Just remove it for the user using adb.

I installed that firmware above, it is listed as canadian firmware "lg-firmwares.com/de/downloads-file/23014/G710AWM30b_00_OPEN_CA_OP_0605"

Do you have another source? I will try it with adb at the weekend.

Thank you!

I too have installed the same firmware. But it is a Canadian firmware. I don't see the apps you mentioned in my device. It is completely bloatware free.

Few weeks ago i got a LG G7 “UNLOCKED” on ebay, the phone had a sticker where it said model “LGG710PM”, the bad news i was stuck with a FIRMWARE LM-G710ULM (V10b-LAO-COM) MAY 2018. I tried updating the phone via OTA or LGBridge and i had no luck. So i looked online for the correct KDZ file for the LGG710PM and also no luck, So what i did is look for a G710ULM KDZ, but the only one the i could find was the G710ULM10G_00 (https://www.mylgphones.com/lg-g7-thinq-project-fi-stock-firmware-g710ulm10g.html) . So after searching online and watching some videos on youtube if this could work, i found a youtuber video (MAXLEE) he change a FIRMWARE of sprint to a Canadian FIRMWARE and it work he did it on a LG G6. So what i did is try it on MY G7 model LGG710PM“ the only thing is that on the G7 there's a few more steps to do:

1) Download G710ULM10G_00 KDZ file
https://www.mylgphones.com/lg-g7-thinq-project-fi-stock-firmware-g710ulm10g.html

2) Download LGUP and install (make sure to use this link for download and follow instructions, like this you don't get an error when
you insert the KDZ file and hit START).
https://mega.nz/#!kCpHBaia!xZmico6MYL1T07ffuc8z6cCbs5oU4pKEz5VG-AwfvV0

A) Make sure you don't have LGBrige installed, if so UNINSTALL and delete any folder of LGBridge after you have uninstalled
(C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics)

B) Download the LGUP zip file and unzip, if you don't have the drivers install lgdrives(The file is inside the folder LGUP-LG G7 ThinQ).
After that install “LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3 (1).msi “ file.
a>

C) After installing LGUP you must go to C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP and copy the first three files(CODEFIRE, LOG,
model) from the UNZIPED FILE from step B.

D) Go to file “model” (C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model) then go to file “common”....go to step “E” don't close the
window….

E) Go to the UNZIP FOLDER, go to file WindowsLGFirmwareExtract-1.2.6.1-Release. Run “WindowsLGFirmwareExtract.exe” and select
the KDZ file you downloaded, then make sure you
check on “LGUPc.dll. EXTRACT KDZ.

F) A file “LGUPc.dll” will be created, Copy that file into the folder “common”...... you should had left that window open from step “D”. Rename the actual “LGUP_Common.dll” to
“LGUP_CommonDDD.dll” and “LGUPc.dll” to “LGUP_Common.dll” and then deltate the “LGUP_CommonDDD.dll”.

Open LGUP...put your phone in download mode... select the KDZ file you downloaded from step “1” and in PROCESS select REFURBISH…. Then click START.

Hello, I was trying to unlock my fastboot without success, now I am stuck with a V35 boot, (my LG is a G710PM converted to ULM I had * ANDROID 9 * I bought it like this on ebay) now it did not start I was following this guide to install the software , but I can't find the three files that you see in the guide "CODEFIRE, LOG, model " I hope you can help me with this problem. Thanks in advance

LGUPc.dll Issue

Hello! Newbie Flasher, kinda Newbie to XDA, had an account for a few years, just cant remember if this is how to reply to your post, if wrong, sorry!!
My name is Sully!

I'm having a little issue with the instructions. Why do I copy the 3 folders Codefire, Log, Model? Also when you say copy those files, do you mean FOLDERS, because there is no files called that, only folders? You said copy them, but don't say where to put them? Also when I follow instructions to the T I don't see a LGUPc.dll file appear anywhere? There's already one in the unzipped folder in the WindowsLGFirmwareExtract-1.2.6.1-Release folder, but it's there before anything is done?
Please, any help would be frickin' awesome!!!
Thanks

I am trying to do the same and flash a Sprint model that seller on eBay put the 10g ULM firmware upon.
The instructions state to copy first 3 files, 1 is a folder, CODEFIRE-LOG-Model Folder, problem is, those are not the 1st 3 and 2 of them do not exist.
Trying to share image I created and uploaded to my Facebook page, see if it attaches...
Will try and just copy 1st 3 and see how it goes, likely be back to either read or reply.. Damn tick infection took away my reading ability, no short term, so will be fun...

I do not see the photo.
Model
DiagCommand.xml
LGTreeView2.ocx
LGUP.exe
License.rtf
License.txt
Megalock.dll
phonesettings4.ocx
Vsflex7L.ocx

That is content of the folder created after installing the older LGUP software linked.

---------- Post added at 09:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 PM ----------

LGUPDlg
DLL for G710ULMg is not installed properly, Please install a DLL package (*.msi) for the model.

Now have this message trying to flash the latest canadian firmware.
This a known error with this Sprint ULM modded phone, did not see this in thread.

Got it..

Found post about running a command, had to run from folder copied from his Google Drive, did the dev flash, and it does get past the animation, so not sure if still need the refurb flash or not.
Was this refurb flash just in case could not get past animation? Want to hand off the phone to the kid to play with, his phone, hopefully that was the reason...
Did not like being stuck without netflix or old security patches from 2018.. will update if any more issues, but so far so good, thinks it is a new phone...

I encouraged myself to go to vm, for those who want to go from ulm to vrz, follow these steps:

    1) Download the firmware VRZ (update 2019-03-14) https://downloads.lg-firmwares.com/get/a42fdbf7f618577f38368c9786dee3e3/G710VM10i_02_0211.kdz
    2) Download the DUAL LGUP https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MJ5sjpzlZyRVoqUhwsNkAo_FHNbaMNy5
    3) uninstall the LGUP software or any other lg software
    4) Install the drivers lg http://tool.cdn.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
    5) Reinstall LGUP, at the end they will choose setdev.bat to create the DLL.
    6) When they are flashing, they will use the partition dll and select everything.
    7) The device will start but will not pass the animation, it must be flashed anew with the option of refurbish.
    8) Now it will start, it will restart the logo and give you the welcome screen.

Greetings!!! ... and I hope it serves you ;)

I bought sprint unlocked phone preinstalled with G710ULM10g from ebay for T-Mobile network .Upgraded to Android Pie G710ULM20d June patch 3 months ago with LGUP tool manually and today updated again to October patch G710ULM20e.Every time there is a new patch you have to repeat the same process.

    1) Download kdz file from this site
    lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/21135/G710ULM20e_00_NAO_US_OP_1010

Note:- It's not allowing me to post hyperlinks ,just add secure protocol before links i.e https://
I realized all links are in the first post.Just download above firmware.

@EPayan Yes you can.See the link to LGUP tool image I posted. The reason why I posted that image is to point the correct versions.I did flashing with different versions of LGUP tools and DLL's finally I found the correct versions that worked with my phone.I came across the same error you mentioned with different version of DLL.Just make sure you have correct version and place rom file in LGUP tool directory ,after everything is in order disconnect phone and switch phone to download mode and reconnect and flash (I wish I came across this first post before I wasted valuable time )

Hi. I also bought a G7ULM but I think it's a PM flashed. I am stuck on Oreo 8.0 with July Security Patch and 710ULM10f firmware.

Can I use this method to get manually update to Pie?
    Any risk of Brick?

    Thanks.

I decided to flash Verizon. Followed the steps in the original post. At the last step I got an error "Not support cross model download G710ULM to G710VM" I wonder if I downloaded the wrong kdz. I followed the link for Verizon and there were two kdz files. I might have downloaded the "VRS" region instead of the "VRZ" region (it had a slightly newer date). would that have been my problem?

Download this to your desktop https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MJ5sjpzlZyRVoqUhwsNkAo_FHNbaMNy5?usp=sharing Right click on the setdev.bat and run as administrator it will auto put dll for you then open lgup connect phone and press repartition dl then press start then box to select all press ok few seconds later press yes after wards press reset phone when the phone boots up

Hi, I updated to the Verizon firmware and here are the good news:
    - shortly after I received a couple of updates.
    - Google pay seems to be working (it allowed me to add a card, but I did not try using it, but I believe it is OK)

    The bad:
    - I am using a non-Verizon SIM and I get the warning The SIM card is not from Verizon. It will show up again after every reboot
    - The phone did not accept the APN settings. I had to manually add them.
    - Another warning trying to set up Wi-Fi calling, but it does not work (probably non Verizon SIM)
    - Bloatware: It doesn't seem to be a lot. I didn't try to remove them yet

    - Others
    - When I added the SIM the phone informed it was a non-Verizon so it switched to the Global mode. Not sure what if the difference
    - I service menu *#546368#*710# does not work on this firmware. The ##77647226710 is accepted but it asks for the Service code and 000000 is not accepted. I was looking for the menu to test LTE bands. I had done a list from the ULM version and wanted to compare, but I cannot access on this version.
