I'm on the August 1, 2017 patch should I update before doing any of this? I had it rooted before a factory reset through TWRP took it away. Root was kinda sketchy though, a lot of things wouldn't stick at all. Only thing that stayed was the Emojis that I changed.
Use Magisk 14.0 and after flashing the kernel and then update magisk from app or use the zip....Dont know why but 14.0 was a sweet spot and it works best after re-rooting or clean install/kdz...

There's some problem with the kernel itself so far the prob I encountered is with SD card reading (most of the cases corrupt the SD card), changing the profile of gpu crash the device and changing the value of the zram it crashes. everything else works perfectly
After upgraded bootloader to 10t restore my 10r backup and flashed kernel clean.. all's well again.

I flashed this w/ lineage os and stock rom... Both seeing to work fine.
Think stock rom would get better performance.. lineage os still in early builds
