Did anyone try to change the DPI of the e610? Just got it for a work phone but the DPI is huge.
Tried to change it to 144 which looks better and the lock screen is half and the notification bar is half. But on 150 the lockscreen is still smaller, but the notification bar is good.

Anyone knows how to get that lockscreen fixed? Looks like it's the default launcher app which has the fixed widths...

EDIT: Just installed V10H (UK kdz) on my Dutch LG L5 E160 and works smoother as the V10E, could install it, with kdz updater and didn't wipe the phone. :) Root I got with the russian method, first the SystemBackupTest app and then 04xr's method.

Change your lcd density to 160 everything should look back right then, I have a LG optimus L5 E612 the default res is 160, not sure if the e610 is 144 as it says on the start of this forum or is 160 as with the e612.

I've played around with the LCD density a bit and found 160 fits the lg images correctly, 144 was way to small and images half cut anything below 160 losses part of the lockscreen and other parts of the system, and anything above 160 just gets to large, 160 seems to be the best, hopefully when someone gets the chance in the hopefully not to distant future create a custom rom for our phones hopefully they can tweak the lcd density and dpi images throughout android like cyanogenmod etc.

The bootloader is unlocked but there is some kind of "secure boot" on the boot and recovery images

Sent from my LG-E610 using Tapatalk 2

And that secure boot is our big problem, correct? Could there be any other way to get it done? I mean look the LG l3 has clockwork mod and all maybe we should ask the maintainer of it, how they got it and all ?

Stock Silent Camera
I really hate the shutter sound of the camera, so i decided to rip it off.
Shutter files are located in the CameraApp.apk under the "raw" folder, just delete or replace with a mute ogg
(...)
Ps: i'm new to the forum so i cant post any external link, that why u'll need to paste in the browser bar and correct
PSS: i'm not responsable for software or hardware damages for this mod
[/CODE]

I found another way of disabling the shutter sound, which also only works on rooted devices. With this method the shutter sounds is only disabled, when the phone is in silent mode. If you want the shutter sound to b permanently disabled, you should use cocconut's method

1) Open some sort of root explorer and navigate to /system
2) Open build.prop with a text editor (note: /system needs to be mounted as r/w)
3) Search for the line "ro.camera.sound.forced=1" and change it to "ro.camera.sound.forced=0"
4) Done. A reboot may be required

PS.: I edited some text out of the quote, since it was a quite long post

LG OPTIMUS L5 Secure Boot

Getting bored with the lack of support for this phone I understand its a brand new phone but its unfair that so much development goes into other phones like the sgs III etc which are also brand new phones.

The security on Boot and recovery is just ridiculous. I have also sent LG emails and just recieved the same computer generated reply that everyone else got, I have signed the petition which is more people can join in hopefully might help.

There must be away we can disable the security without having to contact LG or have someone spefically from LG to have to help us out. This phone is great but is just lacking that availability of tweaking this phone to its full potential.

I understand why LG and other companies would do this, they expect that the way they have the final firmware setup on the phone is what your expected to be happy with. An Im sure if your a new android user, or dont know much about android platform or phones in general this phone would seem perfect but for us that know a little more and the possibilities that this phone and all android phones have, it gets a bit frustrating not being able to bring the L5 to its full potential.

Feels like i should've chose a cheaper and lower quality phone like the Hauwei Sonic just becuase of the possibiliities and endless custom roms these lower quality phones have to offer, so how come an old crappy cheap phone can get more support from developers etc then a supposebly good phone like the LG.

    L5_E612 Rooted Successfully!!!!

Hello guys I finally rooted my phone and here are the steps originally from Russian forum 4pda.ru..

    Thanks to Shvandiura (of 4pda.ru)

    And here the steps..

    Root for LG l5 E612

    1. Download the archive and unpack it (create a folder on desktop named L5_root or whatever you like): Root kit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1271318&d=1345457528..

2.Download "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk" attached below and copy to root of your phone (internal storage)

    3. On the phone in the "Options -> Security" enable "Unknown sources"
In the "For Developers" enable "Debug on USB"

    4. Install "IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk"

    [GUIDE] Flash Stock Firmware

I am not sure if this has been posted before here.
But I am posting, do comment if you find it helpful.

Credit goes to the website: hackmyandroid.com

    Steps:

    1. Download LG Optimus l5 USB Driver for Windows | Mac.

    2. Download official LG Optimus l5 stock firmware from this page. The file would be a .kdz file. Download the appropriate firmware according to your network provider and country.

    3. Download KDZ updater and install it on your computer.

    4. The zip file has a Microsoft XML parser, make sure you run it as an administrator and restart your PC. This will solve the wparam 100 and lparam 6 issue mentioned in a comment below.

    5. The next step is to put your phone into emergency mode. To do this, remove the battery of your phone and re-insert it (don’t turn it on). Press and hold Volume Up button and Volume Down button. While you are pressing the two buttons, press the Power button. So now, you must be pressing all three buttons together.

    6. Your phone will boot into emergency mode and you should see a yellow screen with Emergency mode written on it.
Pick up the USB Cable and connect your phone to the computer via the USB Cable.

    7. Pick up the USB Cable and connect your phone to the computer via the USB Cable.

    8. Run KDZ updater as Administrator.

    9. Choose the following options in KDZ Updater: Type: 3GQCT Phone Mode: DIAG and KDZ file is the one you downloaded in step 3. See the image below,

    Root-LG-P350-LG-Update.png

    10. Re-check with the image above and ensure that you have the appropriate settings on the KDZ updater.

    11. click on “Launch Software Update” button.

    12. This process is usually long. It take quite a long time for the firmware to be flashed on your phone.

    13. If everything goes well, you will see “Finished” written in the log screen and your phone will change to switched off mode from Emergency mode.

    14. The next time you turn it on, your phone will take a lot of time to reboot. Stay Cool! its normal.
