"LG UP has stopped working" at 4%

I'm trying to upgrade my H850 from a KDZ file. I've downloaded and installed the following files:
LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0.exe
LGUP_Lab_Frame_Ver_1_11.msi
LGH850_DLL.msi

When I select the kdz file with the Upgrade option in LG UP it gets to 4% then crashes with the message "LG UP has stopped working". I read somewhere that this can be caused if the DLL is not installed, but I've just checked and this file does exist:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\H850\LGUP_H850.dll
(presumably put there when I installed LGH850_DLL.msi)

Any idea how I can get past this?
