The F800l is not a Sprint CDMA device. Of course it not going to work.. What are you trying to do by using the menu? There's no reason to use it on the F800l.

First of all credits go with many thanks to @hyelton for the instructions and original post for LG G5!

NOTE: starting with ZV8 firmware version Sprint has patched its ROM, so this option is not available any more.

Now short instructions on how to switch your LG V20 from CDMA to LTE network and configure your 3d party SIM APN settings:
1. Download attached HiddenMenuCall app and install it on your device.
2. Start the application and scroll down to IOT(CDG2) row and press it.
3. Next scroll to LTE settings and press it.
4. Select afterwards Operation Mode and change it from Production to Lab Network
-------
After that the phone will reboot.
-------
5. After reboot start HiddenMenuCall again and scroll down to IOT(CDG2) row and press it.
6. Next scroll to LTE settings and press it.
7. Now select APN Settings and press it.
8. From the upper right corner press 3 dotted menu and select New APN.
9. Configure your APN (refer to Biggest APN list) and press SAVE again in the 3 dot context menu.

That's all you'll now have a LTE/GSM enabled device
i did this and read every other thread concerning wifi hotspot/tethering but i not only is the "APN type" unavailable in the first place, i cannot edit any of the APN settings without a service code. there's a popup when i hit "edit" instead of "view" after launching the hidden menu from shortcut master.
anyone have this service code or know how to get around this?

UICC unlocked by sprint, but still does not work on gsm

I have my lg v20 ls997 UICC unlocked by sprint, but still does not work on gsm.
Called sprint and talked with the tech depart, no help at all.
Now when you insert att sim, it shows no sim card, no network.

I think sprint set some kind of software trick to make sure that you can not use ATT or other domestic carriers' service even if they unlock your UICC according to law. I guess, the highly paid in-house lawyers in sprint worked together with software engineers and carefully designed the trick to work around FCC regulation.

The hidden menu app posted here is no longer working on the updated LG v20s. see the attached screenshot. You don't even see the options anymore.
If anything still works, please go to FCC website to file complaints.

Hello everyone!
Reading all messages it's very confusing for person who is not familiar with all that stuff. All I need to do is make my LG v20 (997) Sprint ready to be used on gsm networks (well basically everyone wants to do that)
I'm running latest software LS997ZVB. Will initial instructions (first post, installing app and switching to other networks) will still unlock the phone?
Please if anyone can give simple plain instruction what I need to do. I really appreciate if anyone could assist me.
Thanks

No the app only works if you haven’t updated. Read the post right before yours :p

Anyway you would have to buy a remote unlock somewhere like on eBay. But keep in mind it won’t function no where near as good as an actual GSM V20 service wise.

There are services on Ebay that will unlock for you remotely. I used one such service and the phone worked well on GSM carriers but it removed all traces of Sprint from the phone like UICC unlock etc. I believe this unlock service makes the phone Sprint incompatible unless they do a remote reset or something.

Thank you guys for the replies. Based on that, I tend more not to deal with this and just gets sim free devise... Perhaps new One plus 5T.
Or still risk and do remote unlock thorough eBay? Any suggestion where else, maybe we have someone here on this forum? Big caveat on ebay I think, they all want you to have PC windows, to install software (for shared screen I guess). But I'm on Mac :(

Recently bought a Sprint V20 firmware version ZV6. So this method to unlock and use on AT&T should work ?

I disabled automatic updates in developer options, anyone know if that will keep it from updating ?

Also, is it simple to get phone back to working on Sprint ?

I was able to get Tracfone AT&T working but not Freedompop lte which is just ATT data.

As far as going back to being ready to activate on Sprint is a factory reset sufficient ?

You set the correct apn correct? You have to do that before data will work...

##RTN# to reset. But if you bought a remote unlock no clue if it will work on sprint after that

I didn't buy a remote unlock, just used the instructions here in this thread. and in the similar thread about the LG G5 which has a few more step. It worked because my V20 is still on firmware ZV6.

Everything works fine on AT&T, voice, mms, data. Yes I did set the apn and it works fine using the Tracfone ATT sim.

I mostly need more info about making it ready to use on Sprint in the future. I'm a bit unsure about when I need the spc, or if I need it ? What happens when I enter ##RTN# ? Does it prompt for the spc at some point ? The phone isn't associated with an active Sprint account..can I just ask Sprint for the spc when I call to activate it or do I need to get it prior to that ?

I'm happy with it on ATT for now but I like to know how to restore it to Sprint ready while you or someone is still following this thread. :)

Sometimes some carriers APns will auto input. But FreedomPop usually won’t so if you didn’t setup the apn that explains why it didn’t work.

Yes by dialling ##rtn# you’ll need your spc code. But obtaining it can be hit or miss. You might get a rep that’ll give it out, you might not it’s hit and miss.
