I got the LG G8X on Flipkart BBD sale at 18240 with SBI Card discount. Looking forward to it. It also seems that these are unsold Made in Vietnam stock devices from where incompatible chargers were removed before selling in India. Looking forward to it

In a surprising turn of events I have now switched over to the dark side. I got the S20+ during the sale. Gonna sell off the v30, it will be missed.

I don't understand why LG does these throwaway sales. LG devices resale value plummets like anything.

Awesome. Let us know how it feels compared to LG. (Ignoring the performance upgrade)

Another surprise, I actually cancelled the s20+ on the day of delivery as I saw too many user reviews on the heating and inefficient power hog Exynos processor. Luckily, I got an insane deal on the Oppo Find X2 and immediately ordered that.
It's been a day of use now and the screen is just mind blowing, 120hz at 2k resolution with a super wide colour gamut. Side by side comparison to the v30 is not even a fair competition.
Performance obviously is insane with the sd865 and battery life is as good as the v30 even at 120hz on all the time. The dual stereo speakers are also a masterpiece, they actually have bass, I've never heard bass on a mobile phone before.

Only thing I had to sacrifice is the wireless charging, but I can learn to live without it.

Came here to just to see updates.
I gave my V30+ to my nephew and bought Samsung Note 10 Lite.
Phone Size is much bigger and heavier.
Software updates are regular monthly which is suprise coming from LG.
I bought it for effective price of ₹ 29500 after cashback and also got Free 1 year accident, liquid damage insurance.
Overall good deal.
Liking Samsung OneUI.
This may be last of Samsung higher end phone which has 3.5mm jack , FM Radio.

Just came here to see the updates. With the continuous low sales, and LG deciding to put its smartphone business on sale, it is sad to see imminent exit of a brand which was once dishing out premium flagships from G series and then differentiated to V series . LG mobiles were of good quality but their software updates were anaemic. Used V30+ for 2 years and purchased one G8X for wife. Had an excellent ownership experience with V30+. Sad to see LG quit.

It's a news for me that LG is quiting the game. All they needed to do was pull up their software team. That's it. I still don't see a worthy upgrade from LG, not including software in this. Build quality is awesome, headphone jack with dac and what not.

Hello Guys,

Which phone you are rocking now ?
It has become really hard to find good options post LG' exit.
Since Sony is out of India , there is only Asus as option which has 3.5mm jack with high end processor.
I am using Samsung Note 10 Lite since September and liking it despite some issues.

Just wanted to know how you guys have made selection or what are your views with future devices ?

I have factory resetted it and my language that I have been using (Hungarian) disappeared from the language list.
How could this be? Can somebody explain? Thank you! The phone is not rooted.

TWRP FLASHABLE "ROM" versions of full image India KDZ

For those who have bootloader unlock and TWRP, @seadersn has made a TWRP-flashable "ROM" (KDZ in TWRP flashable file form). This continues the TWRP-flashable KDZ tradition which has been available for US998 and Europe H930, to update easily to newer stock firmware using TWRP. He's gallantly expanding to other variants.

He will also do future updates when they arrive.

See top of post #1 of this thread for the TWRP flashable link. Please go to his thread to thank him. He's putting a lot of effort into making TWRP flashable KDZ for our phones.

These "stock" zips are for people who have TWRP and want to update to newer stock firmware very easily. These are not conventional ROMs that any variant can flash. They are merely TWRP flashable versions of full image KDZ. If you live in India/Philippines/Indonesia and have an H930DS this "EAS" region firmware is for you. For instance it would (should) give you India Jio VoLTE with a Jio SIM card and is currently the newest firmware available for that region.

This "ROM" (really TWRP flashable KDZ) is also probably compatible with other phones like Europe H930 as some have flashed other H930DS firmware onto H930 -- but they have slight bugs like showing phantom 2nd SIM card. However someone flashing this "ROM" over H930 should have very good reason for doing so, not just for fun.

Like tech_infinity said, LG hasn't abandoned the V30.
Just the other day (and today on another variant), someone got a security update for this month on /r/v30, you hear the same stories on the v20 subreddit.
There's KDZs on lg-firmwares.com for V30 variants that are less than a month old. I don't know what variant specifically the Indian users have, but it'd be worth checking there for what the latest is.
Link (replace 'h930ds' witih your variant): https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h930ds-firmwares/#tab=firmwares
The security updates are still coming, but it's unsure with feature updates.
I don't know if stock users will ever get Pie, with Android Q just around the corner, that'll be 2 major versions behind if the V30 doesn't get pie.

There's various regional H930DS. India is part of the EAS region, which includes Indonesia and Philippines. For some reason the last update for them in November 2018 was never publicly released as full KDZ. Very strange.

And for all the various H930DS there was a large gap in updates. However just this month Hong Kong H930DS received new firmware with LOTS of improvements. I'm pretty sure this will now roll out to all the other H939DS.

    https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397908084

India H930DS CAN flash that Hong Kong H930DS firmware (all H930DS firmware are compatible with other H930DS) -- but India Jio carrier users will not have VoLTE. Jio VoLTE is only available on "EAS" region H930DS KDZ (or TWRP-flashable zip based on tht KDZ).

Here's the change log when US998 got DTS, so I'm assuming it's the same for this HK H930DS 21W, which now has DTS framework:

    change log:

    - DTS: X 3D stereo effect function has been added.
    - New Always On Display options
    - Selfie camera portrait mode
    - Improved accessibility.
    - Improved keyboard performance
    - Improved the delay of keyboard input when installing multiple market apps at once.
    - Photo display error in some apps since Google's latest security patch has been improved.
    - Improved to keep app aspect ratio settings after app updates.
    - Improved the phenomenon that fine lines are displayed on some screens when power saving mode is executed.
    - Google Security Update has enhanced your phone's security.

Most of the list is found here in the link below -- plus the AOD and selfie camera portrait feature are from public reports. The AOD I verified myself, but the selfie thing seems to be subtle.

Also with root you can fully enable the awesome LG DTS 3D stereo with equalizer. Works on both wired and wireless (Bluetooth) connections.

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/enable-dts-3d-stereo-lg-v30-variants-t3887139

DTS works over Bluetooth FYI. So does the equalizer. I wasn't aware of this.

Got it to work on my H930DS. Thanks for sharing. The equalizer and DTS worked on both wired and wireless headphone if you're wondering. It's a really nice combo.

What do they have against the H930DS?

Sent from my LG-H930 using Tapatalk

I don't know, but I have a theory. First, some information...

If you go to this site and look at all the various regions' H930DS firmware, you'll see EAS (India/Indonesia/Philippines), AUS, ARE, GCC were last updated in early August. HKG was mid-August (August 16). Then others like SEA, KAZ, TWN, CIS, 8WN, 9SG were all the same date -- on August 24.

The file name has the date the build was "created", but that doesn't mean when it was RELEASED. They were tested AFTER the build was created, then released. But still ALL the H930DS in the world -- all those regions -- last had updated builds in August.

Except for Hong Kong (HKG), all the various regions seem to be released in two waves (early August, late August).
    • 8WN and TWN (August 24) have EXACTLY the same file size.
    • CIS and KAZ (August 24) have EXACTLY the same file size.
    • 9SG (August 23) and SEA (August 24) have EXACTLY the same file size.

Same with many of the early August releases -- same EXACT file size for two or more regions, even though different regions. So, some are probably all identical, but just name differently? (KAZ and CIS are for former Soviet/Russia affiliated countries. 8WN and TWN are both somehow Taiwan connected. You see my point.)

    2) I see the same file size similarity for several of the "August 24" regions back on "May 26". But the "early August" regions actually got their previous update "May 30" (except for India which for some reason got separated from the other EAS region countries for that release; unless India users were savvy enough to download EAS KDZ released outside of India).

So, my conclusion is ONE team is devoted to H930DS. In May, they batch built ALL countries/regions on May 26 and May 30. However, for August, they tried to break it up and do early August (4), mid August (1), late August (6). Again, this is build creation date, not actual release date -- but they are roughly tied together. "Release" (partial image OTA, followed by full image KDZ) is usually within 2 or 3 weeks of build creation. Some of the "August 24" builds were actually released in SEPTEMBER.

But why the CHANGE from one large batch release (end of May) for ALL H930DS to different stages (3 stages in August)? Why? Don't know.

Then, something happened in November. There should have been either 2 or 3 waves of build/released throughout November (if they followed the August plan). What happened?

My theory is LG H930DS team may be ditching the "stages" and going back to one batch build week -- since so many are the same image. In doing so, they have totally discounted the "early" August build dates and their timeline is now centered on the "late" August build dates -- and thus they are going back to one large batch release all the same week? This would mean 11 region/country builds were all created the last week of November, are being tested, and will be released soon (partial image OTA, followed by full image KDZ). So, EAS, AUS, ARE, GCC and HKG will all be OVER the 90-day mark. But SEA, KAZ, TWN, CIS, 8WN, 9SG will not.

If another two weeks goes by with no H930DS, then I don't know.

EDIT: India Jio VoLTE is available for H930 21W. Thanks to @[email protected] for the discovery!
    _________

It's very frustrating how LG is ignoring the Indian variant and still advertising their newer phones extensively. Pretty disappointing that they make phones with such well balanced hardware and features but don't back it up with software updates.

There was updated firmware for India H930DS with November 2018 security patch, but for some reason it was only on new phones sold -- not an OTA or publicly released KDZ. Very strange.

As you know, an update will be coming this month for India H930DS.
    January 31, 2019:
i communicated with lg security team. they told me that the next update will be on march for lg v30+ indian variant

That's pretty crappy! From March they'll push it further to Q3 saying that they're releasing Pie anyway but, we all know that won't happen.

If you don't have Jio and need Jio VoLTE, you can always install the recent Hong Kong H930DS 21w firmware. Released in March 2019, it has January 2019 and a lot of improvements. That's what they will be giving all H930DS eventually when the updates roll out. (which is why the March 2019 news above seems on point.)

All H930DS firmware is compatible with all H930DS phones. The only problem is only EAS region H930DS KDZ has India carrier Jio VoLTE. But before India H930DS got Oreo, many India users flashed other H930DS firmware and even H930 firmware to get Oreo before LG India finally released it.

For those who are rooted, you should even be able to flash the very recent H930 Open EU 21W TWRP-flashable zip. Again, though, Jio users won't have VoLTE.

EAS region H930DS update should be coming this month.
    4
Oh thanks for clearing that up. Then i am staying away from the unlock and root. Not gonna try it. I really need my jio Volte more than oreo. I cant lose it. Hope some indian dev takes notice.

Everything is working - dual sim, jio internet after root and bootloader unlock. For volte to work on jio one has to install jio4gvoice app and that's it. You have a daily driver and more flexible smartphone.
