Can anyone tell me how to sideload the update via ADB
Steps to ADB sideload:
1. get adb drivers - google "set up adb for -your operating system-"
2. enable developer options on your watch by pressing version number until it says "you are now a developer" - I think it's 10 times
3. place your watch in the cradle and connect it to your computer or laptop
4. go to developer options and enable "adb debugging" - accept and prompt that might pop up
5. download the OTA package posted by AndiTails and thank him while you're at it
6. rename the file you downloaded to "update"
7. copy the "update" file into the "platform tools" folder - it will be there if you done the 1st step correctly
8. in the platform tools folder hold shift and right click to select open "command window here"
9. type command "adb devices" - accept any prompt on your watch
10. type command "adb reboot bootloader" - your watch should boot to bootloader
11. using the little arrows on the bottom of the watch screen navigate to "recovery mode" and press the crown to select it - after a second a dead android figure will appear - then just press on it and another screen with various options will open
12. using your finger navigate to"sideload package from ADB" and to select press the crown on the watch
13. in your command prompt type command "adb sideload update.zip" - your computer will take care of the rest - be patient
14. after everything finishes use the crown to press "reboot system now" - your watch will reboot - be patient!
15. I reccomend factory resseting your watch after you set it up just to start fresh
16. enjoy!

That is a driver issue. I found a solution on androidcentral forums:
reinstall the Android driver while you're in recovery mode. Even though you installed it while the device was booted and it was recognized, now that you're in recovery mode it won't be recognized anymore. And you can't make it automatically find the Android driver in the driver folder-- you have to select it manually.

1) On your Windows desktop, Go to your Control Panel then Device Manager.
2) You should see Android Phone under Other Devices with a Yellow ! mark on it.
3) Right click on it and choose "Update Driver Software"
4) Choose "Browse my computer", then "Let me pick from a list."
5) If you see categories, select "Android Device", then select "Android ADB Interface".
6) The driver will install and you can now run the update with ADB.

Sorry my ignorance... but when you say that rooted devices will not receive the OTA update, are you referring to the phone or to the watch? Because I recently rooted my phone and I need to know if I will receive the OTA update or not!

lol, I am also monitoring daily on xda, if the 1.4 update is already rolling out...
Now I just checked the version on my LGWR and saw, that is already on 1.4.... :D
No idea how this could happen... Silent autoupdate...?

That happened to me on my Moto 360 2015. It downloaded and installed without me knowing when. I had been checking for days prior to it silently installing.

Checked my G watch earlier and noticed settings had moved so scrolled down to look for it and noticed 'Fit' needed permissions, so clicked it and got a simple screen saying "updating.. Just a minute" after I went to check for update and I was already on 6.0.1 weird? Not sure whether I had the update just then or sometime earlier, no notification or anything it just silently updates without you knowing. A choice would have been nice, not that I'm complaining lol!

Mine appears to have auto-updated overnight (did not prompt or anything, I just noticed it giving me the 'new gestures' tutorial this morning).
