Hello, recently, I have been curious in what kind of battery that my Honor 5X uses, I'm using the U.S variant (KIW-L24) and when I open apps that show my specifications of my device (like CPU-Z, Antutu Benchmark, CPU-X) they all say Li-Poly in the battery section. But then I look at the specifications for the device on the Honor store, and in gsmarena specifications for this device, and it says "Li-Ion". Then, I looked up a video of JerryRigEverything taking apart the phone and revealing the battery (I wanted to see what the battery would say what type it was) and I see that it says "Li-Ion Polymer Battery. At this point, I don't know WHAT type of battery this device uses, Li-ion? Li-Poly? Li-Ion Poly? Someone please help me classify the type of battery it uses, thank you!

(Search on Youtube: "JerryRigEverything Honor 5X teardown", and go to exactly 1:05 in the video to see it say "Li-Ion Polymer Battery" I would link it, but I cannot until after 10 post because I am a new member)

Really good question. I have to say this though after putting my Honor 5X through its paces this week. I absolutely Must go back to my HAM2 because this one is not nearly enough for my taste. Maybe it is the battery type after all? But I hate the drain, something the HAM2 never did.

If I had to bet, I would bet on the physical label that was shown on the battery in the video is the most likely to be correct? Because those apps which read system information have been known to be wrong the past. Information posted on a company's web site is not always accurate either. Probably some intern is copy and pasting it into the web site and isn't going to double check everything with the higher ups to make sure who ever gave them the info to put into the site is correct. And if I remember correctly, the Honor web site briefly listed the Honor 5x as having a Snapdragon 615 and then later they fixed the site to say 616. That might be one of the reasons why some professional reviews on the Honor 5x label it as a 615 device cuz they got the info from the Honor site when it had incorrect information at the time (the Android Police review is an example of this).

That's not to say a physical label has never been wrong. It just seems most likely to be double or even triple checked before going out because unlike a web site which can have info changed very quickly, a bunch of incorrect labels out there is a mess, especially in places where "false advertising" is a big deal. It seems like mostly counterfeit or garbage tier products will have labels with bogus information because they don't care about false advertising.
