Before all the angry people kick off, this is not just another "problem thread".
Reading through forum I realised that a lot of people won't notice light bleed of they put their phone down when booting as background on KK is grayish. I've seen a few people ask how they check for light bleed. I'm also curious how bad it gets.
Now, before you do it, please keep in mind once it's seen, it can't be unseen, don't blame me for that, I gave you a fair warning and if you didn't read it or ignored it, you suck :p

Right, download this app, set brightness to max, go into dead pixel tab and scroll horizontally to the black panel. Voila!

Ignore everything but top left corner (2 points) on this pic as this is simply due to the angle. It appears like light bleed, but it's so minor, it's barely visible in reality. Top left corner though is very prominent.

Have fun.

Have it in the exact sAme spot on my N5, not worth the hassle of replacing it imo.

I will give you kudos of posting some actual light bleed instead of just being brighter at certain angles.

I fortunately haven't noticed this on mine, but even if I did -- like you, I wouldn't bother getting it replaced.

Not much hassle, phone call, deposit, wait and use current N5. Mine other one already shipped. Wonder if it's going to be any better....

If the replacement is worse *knocks on wood*, can you just return it to them and keep your current one?

Let's put it this way, if next one is perfect, I'm keeping it. This device only has that one issue. Most of the time I don't see it, but I KNOW it's there. So, if replacement is not perfect, I'm keeping my my first one... Probably...

Fair enough. I just know that, admittedly through the constant rehashing of friends and family, I am too critical of my electronic devices and nothing is perfect. With this in mind, I'm trying to just see the brighter side lol. Good luck to you though man!

I can "live" with things.. Heck, I did with ipad and a few other things.
However display on this device is supposed to be sealed AFAIK. Light bleed like that shows its not, which is an inherited hardware fault. Another reason for this thread is to see if majority of devices is like that and looking for a perfect one is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Which is obviously not worth the hassle.

Look, @undercover , nothing against you personally, I actually enjoy most of your posts, but if you put any device under a microscope, you'll find issues. If slight light bleed visible only during the boot process while in a pitch-black room is the only issue with my phone, I'd consider myself lucky and move on.

I guess what I'm saying is, every device deserves a little margin of error. Every single unit off of the assembly line can't be perfect, and a unit with only the aforementioned light bleed should probably be considered slightly-less-than-perfect-but-acceptable, in my humble opinion.

With all due respect this thread is not to discuss what is acceptable error margin to a person.
To simplify, here's the bleed, how much worse/better/same it gets and on how many devices. Everything is relative so I'm trying to work out just HOW relative it is. That's all. I'm not slagging LG, Google, users, nor am I saying every user should return his unit because of certain amount of light bleed. Most of the threads I started are either help threads (passed on to other people now) or analysis of this or the other.
Tis all :)
